Ogoki Lake (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) If you are looking to book a trip at Ogoki lake run by Wilderness North Outfitters this is the post for it. My bestfriend and I both fished Ogoki lake in mid-August last year. From what we were told this was not the best time of year. I would suggest going in early spring or late fall. As far as fishing spots for Walleyes go up the river to the first and second rapids and use a leech tipped jig. We caught over 300 walleyes in a week there. There are also numerous Notherns in the enterance to the river (nothing of notable size though). Another great spot is the area around the island by the mouth of the river. I caught a 41" Pike there. Fish around the whole island and pay attention to deep weedlines. My biggest tip is find the walleyes and you will find the big pike. If you are on a hot spot for walleyes and they all of the sudden turn off it is because there is a BIG pike around gobbling up /spooking all the walleyes. Good luck and keep them lines tight.

Agoki (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) Great advice! Also, there´s a small (30-yards across) dirty rock island across the lake from the river mouth. We caught 30-40 in an hour there. Also the rock piles out from the small river mouth was excellent. I caught/released a 35" pike there. We used Chartruese twister tails on a Chartruese jig tipped with a previously frozen salted minnow. We caught/released 100´s. We ate several for lunch and dinner. Great fishing! I´ve got GPS readings if you want/need them.

Ogoki Lake (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) Have a trip to Ogoki Lake scheduled for the last week in July. Using Wilderness North as flyin and are going to stay at Cabin No. #, near the mouth of the Ogoki River. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Never been to this Lake before and it looks BIG.

fished the rest now fish the best (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) When i first told my buddies at work of my fathers new lodge in ogoki lake and and that it is the best place to fish in this world they thought I was full of shit. I barely managed to get enough of my buddies to charter a plane to go there. Now they can´t wait to go the next year and I have a line up of people that want to go if someone pulls out. The fishing is unreal and the camp is great.

Ogaki-Kayedon Lake (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) What about Kayedon and the south parts of Ogaki? We are going end of June. Are the Jigging patterns still effective?Do you have to be in rivers or mouth of rivers to find walleye/northerns?
|
Kayedon (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) What about Kaydedon to the south of Ogaki? We are going in late June.
|
Ogoki Fishing (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) I have fished Ogoki week of season opening two years. Great lake for lots of 15" to 24" Walleye and up in the river lots of 24" to 42" Northern. Cannot go wrong with this lake early in the season.
|
ogaki lake (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) fished this lake many times. the pike are not that big. but the fishing has been great. we have fished both in aug and september. we now really only go in august because it just got to cold in september. we have caught many walleyes over 5 lbs and i caught two fish in august of 2009 that were 27inch and 28inch about 8 to 9 lbs the biggest we ever caught, released both back to back. you will have fun. the group i have gone with has been going for over 20 years

OGOKI LAKE (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) I HAVE FISHED THE OGOKI LAKE ON 11 TRIPS WHICH MEANS THAT I HAVE SPEND SOME 77 DAYS ON THE LAKE. ALL TOGETHER I HAVE MADE 93 TRIPS TO CANADA AND OGOKI LAKE IS THE BEST WALLEYE FISHING I HAVE FOUND IN CANADA. A FEE TIPS ARE TO USE SALTED MINNOWS ON A JIG WITH A TWISTER TAIL. WE SALT 10 POUNDS OF THE MINNOWS A MONTH BEFORE OUR TRIP, KEEPING THEM FROZEN UNTIL READY TO USE. (DRY OFF MINNOWS,PLACE A COUPLE DOZEN IN A SIP-LOCK BAG & ADD TABLE SALT)
WILDERNESS NORTH - STAY IN CABINS 1 OR 2 , NOT 3 AS IT IS DIFFICULT GETTING IN AND OUT. OR OGOKI LAKE OUTFITTERS - ONLY ONE CABIN AT THE NORTH END OF THE LAKE. YOU´LL FIND ABOUT 500 DOLLARS DIFFERANCE IN THE PRICES.
I ONLY USE 4 LB. TEST LINE, ON ULTRA LITE POOLS, WATCH THE POOL TIP AND THE LINE FOR MOVEMENT. MY DAILY RECORD FOR CATCHING WALLEYES IS AROUND 175 IN 6 HOURS OF FISHING, BUT, OF COURSE I KNOW THE LAKE VERY WELL.
ONE LAST THING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE LAKE IS THE FACT THAT THE WATER LEVEL IS CONTROLLED BY THE AMOUNT OF SNOW FALL YEARLY AND WHEN THEY LET WATER OUT OF THE OGOKI RESV.
UP STREAM APPOX. 60 MILES AWAY. I HAVE SEEN THE LAKE RISE 4 FEET IN A WEEK WITHOUT ANY RAIN. LAKE IS 8 MILES LONG AND 6 MILES WIDE.
OH YES SAY AWAY FROM KAYDON LAKE, DO NOT GO THERE.
ENJOY THE LAKE AND ONLY TAKE WHAT YOU EAT THEIR, LEAVE SOME FOR ME. ALSO TRY FISHING FOR ONE OF MY VERY COSTLY OUTFITS WHICH I LOST IN 2006, JUST OFF OF CABIN 2. I SHOULD HAVE NEVER TRIED FISHING WITH 2 POOLS.

Ogoki lake (in reply to: Ogoki Lake in Ontario) Ogoki s a fabulous lake if you can get there, not too many ourfitters go there, there are killers in the water and numerous wildlife, have to be carefull as there are lots of bears, and Timber wolves, we encounterd a pack onceon 1 of the shores when our boat broke dwn, pretty clode cll if it was not for the guide pulling us away from the shorline. Lots of big pike and Walleys, sturgeon, white fish and brown trout.
