Subject: Shortest stay possible in Canada to get PR visa
What is the shortest possible stay allowed for someone to get the PR stamp (or whatever it is) and then get on a plane back across the Pacific to Asia (if there are flights available)?
While a waste of money, my wife doesn´t have much holiday time and must get the visa soon. Ends up being the most practical really.
Thanks everyone

why did you apply? (in reply to: Shortest stay possible in Canada to get PR visa)
If its a waste of time and money to get the visa, may I suggest a better idea? Like, don´t bother coming to Canada at all if you feel its such an inconvenience.

After your wife lands in Canada, completes the landing procedure and becomes a PR she can catch the next flight out of Canada to Asia.

My wife landed on a weekend (Saturday at Vancouver) and immigration was open. It takes weeks to receive other things like S.I.N. and PR card, so if you plan to fly back same or next day, I don´t think it should matter to much what other gov´t offices are closed.

you know what?if you don´t wanna stay in Canada, why bother to come here, give the quota to other people.
Thing like provincial health card, once you left the province, you have to go back start another 3 month again,
student loan, 1 year

Damn I agree with you Anonymous and departure bay! What the heck people spend time and money, but take the result of the process as a luxury of their life?

Those people who overreact by saying "do not come to canada" to very legitimate and pragmatic questions (including the question raised by mach and several other questions in the same line), I have only one thing to say-chill out. Find some thing else to release your bitter venom.

Those people who are coming under SW category and have more than 67 points must be doing something in their life. CIC takes anything between 1-4 years. Do u think it would be feasible to book an airlines flight right after you get an AOR so that you can jump into a plane the moment you get green light and leave your home country and land in Canada for ever?

Take home message-people have life ! and I guess you do not want loosers to apply for the PR, do you? And if you want the professionals to come to canada, have some patience to understand their problem. It is a package, something like an occupational hazzard. DEAL WITH IT .

Remember DB, not every one who has applied is already in Canada. And why people have to be so defensive when some one ask if s/he can come there for one day and get back to his her life to settle things. Spending thousands of dollors, enduring the long wait, making minds to say good bye to family and friends, aint that enough evidence to corroborate the fact that they intend to immigrate?

I hope such intolerance only represent a minority in Canada.

Is it peoples apathy to others problem or a knee jerk reaction to defend any thing about Canda? I think we can improve the system only when we are critical to it.
just 2 cents

Technically, you can take the next flight out. Realistically, it´s best to give yourself a few days at least to set up basic stuff (bank accounts, apply for SIN, health card etc).

I agree with the last poster. Everyone has their own individual issues to deal with. Moving to Canada is a huge step, so cut people some slack.
