Congrats on the prgress so far! With regards to PPR, taking note of the feedback in this forum on this same topic- anywhere from a couple of months to over a year. This time period after the medicals is a mystery. If there is a delay, the possible reasons are:

1)Delays in background check
2)Processing old cases creating a backlog
3)The rumored "quota system"- PPR will be issued in 2006

I beleive its a case by case scenario and could also depend on visa posts. I am waiting for my PPR for 6 months now and I applied from CHC New Delhi.

Good luck!

Thank you mmm_doughnuts.

My required document list does not contain background check or RCMP certificate etc. So I assume there will be no BG check, right? I hope it will go smoothly coz it´s been 1.5 year for me to get medical form.

Its strange that they did not ask you for a RCMP certificate if you are in Canada.

With regards to the BG check, it not involves RCMP,FBI reports, PCC etc. (whichever applies in your case) but some say the CSIS ( Canadian Security Intelligence Services) also look into case if required. I initially debunked the CSIS the theory but I stand corrected after a poster pointed out this website:
http://www.csis-scrs.gc.ca/en/priorities/security_screening.asp#bm04.

This BG check remains a mystery and this forum is filled with conspiracy theories about it :)
Hopefully your PPR will be faster.

Hi mmm_doughnuts,

Is RCMP certificate mandatory? I heard from several landed immigrants that they were not asked to submit it either. From the webpage you gave me

http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/can-am/buffalo/visas/police_certificate-en.asp

"Do not request a police certificate from Hong Kong, the United States or Canada until you are instructed to do so by a visa office"

So that means I don´t have to submit it?

Experts plz come and clarify it.

"Unless instructed to do so"-The reason for that I believe is that police certificates, RCMP etc are only valid for 6 months. But you could be correct. Others please correct me if Iam wrong.

"All Police Certificates must have been issued within the last SIX MONTHS. Outdated Police Certificates will NOT be accepted."
