Is it mandatory to send proof of funds with my fresh application or will it be requested later? Do I have an option to send bank statements later?

fresh application requires fresh proof of funds. With out it you will not get a file number.

You have to send it withyour application or your application will not be complete. However, they may ask for updates during the course of your file process, and finally you have to proof the same at the landing port. Keep prepared.
