Hi

I have received my medicals recently and papers are with my representative. He has never provided any services/guidance to me till date, but now he asking for his fees installments otherwise he will not give me my medical papers.

Can i cancel my representative by filing form 5476 and get medical papers directly from CIC ? Please advise.

Thanks

Hi Maxy, yes, you would complete the same form that you used to assign a representative to cancel a representative.

Hi mile2

Thanks for reply. Yes, i did signed a contract with reprep for the services and guidance, which he had not given me. I am having enough proof that, but DO CIC CARE about it ?

I mean, i will resolve that dispute on my own, but at this moment i just need my medical papers sothat i can go ahead with the immigration process.

I wonder if your rep could make life hard for you by sending something nasty to cic?

Hi Maxy,

We used to have a consultant too. We paid outright for their services. Later on, we discovered that some of the services that they were supposed to provide were "fake" (like guaranteed job etc.), we tried to refund some of the fees we paid. They started to ignore us. We chose to just let it go. Don?t know if that was right or wrong but we didn?t like to be at war with somebody who may or may not be in the position to ruin our dreams to go to Canada.

During our interview, we submitted the form (IMM5476E)to cancel our representative. I was about to tell the officer what happened but she told us that she didn?t like to know it and what happened between us and our consultant is none of their business. So I guess that answers your question...since CIC does not require a consultant they should also not be bothered when our consultants mess up.

YOUR OPTIONS:

OPTION 1

You can try to submit this IMM5476 and a cover letter about your new mailing address. Also, you can try to ask for a new medical forms and ask to send to your new address. You can probably tell them that your medical forms might have been sent to you former representative and that you have no way of getting it from them. I hope you can think of a better reason. The better reason of course is to be honest. You may choose to simply tell them about the misunderstanding without giving the details.

With this option, you run the risk of being in a long battle with your consultant...imagine...court....case...not ideal during immigration process.

OPTION 2...If I were in your position this is what I would do.

I would pay my balance, get my medical forms from the consultant and submit the IMM5476 to CIC so that all future communications will be sent to your new address...let go of the money..you can earn that again....these people are not worth your anger and your energy...let the HIGHER authority do the revenge for you....pray for guidance....good luck

Thanks Everyone for Help

If i cancel my representative, how can he ruin my file ? i still dont get it. After canceling the respresentative CIC will accept documents and information from me only right..! why CIC will bother what someone else has to say about my file ?

he can ruin your file by simply writing anonymous letters to them and stating some false stories about you....because someone did the same to me.....and now i am going through an extensive background check.....which is going to take more than a year.......

Hi Maxy,

Most of us here in this forum are fellow applicants like you. We answer queries based on our personal experiences, actual events, opinions and even guesses. The final decision is still yours. We already gave you possible different sides to a coin. We cannot tell you what your consultant might do and what CIC might do to whatever it is that your consultant is gonna do. In fact, you could also be right, your consultant might just keep quiet and CIC can give you another copy of the medical forms, end of story. But that´s all it is....opinions, guesses...there´s no way we can really give you a scenario wherein we are 100% sure to happen.

Your call. Good luck in your decision and I think praying for guidance will not be a bad idea at all.

Unfortunately, you did sign a contract with your agent. You will have to honor that. Now, if he is asking for more than what you agreed on contract, you can complain to CIC and Better Business but in this case, you are obliged to pay.

My suggestion, pay up - get your medicals and move on. The 700-80 $ is going to be nothing compared to your PR (big scheme of things).
You could go the other route, legal proceedings - but then, you are going to loose out on time and CIC will have to issue another medical, which may take some months.

And let this be a lesson to all of us.
