My title in the contract is Research assistant however my duties come under molecular biologist. ( Thats what I think after exploring the CIC website)
My contract says Full time research assistant (37hrs/ week
I have MD degree and MSc in life science
I am working on bladder cancer research
my main duties include including analysing biopsy samples and patients followup using molecular and cellular biological techniques; data analysis and record keeping; manuscript/report preparation/presentations and supervising student assistants. I have been independently performing experimental analysis at a molecular level, using DNA and RNA techniques, including RNA analysis by real time PCR, and protein/antibody techniques (specifically immunoblot procedures), enzyme methodologies and cell culture. ( I am sorry for writing technical stuff here)
Three published peer reviewd articles in international journals as first author
What do you suggest ? what code should I write ? code for research assistant or code for Molecular biologist?
should I stick to the title written on contract or I can choose which best fits in my duties
Another question regarding experience: Full time research assistant (37hrs/week)salary/month. would it be considered full time research experience?
Thanx for your suggestions
Good luck all

(in reply to: NOC code) Is there a code for a research assistant? Your qualifications should also not put you under the biology technician/technologist category although some jobs what you described can be done by a tech. Your NOC should be 2121 (Biologists and related scientists) Molecular Biology should fall under this category. I have worked earlier as a full time research assistant in the US and it has counted towards my experience. My NOC now is 2121, though earlier it was different. You should not have a problem even though the NOC for your bachelors/professional degree is different. Plus your masters Iam guessing is from a relative field even though it is not purely molecular biology right?
When sending in the appl. include everything: references to the articles in the journals, present work exp. in a purely research field, presentations at scientific conferences, memberships etc. This should convince CIC to put you in NOC 2121. It worked for me.Good luck!

(in reply to: NOC code) when you check the job title examples for NOC 2121, there is a title called Research Biologist....I think CIC is more concerned on the job description....mmm is right, 2121 is it for you..good luck
