Try kanetix.ca or Consumer´s Guide to Insurance hotline (sorry, don´t have the number), both will give you cost comparisons from various insurance companies.

It depends on the type of vehicle, where you live, amount of KM you travel per year, your age, whether you are married or single, gender....etc, then it also depends on if the company wants to increase your premiums because the sun was shining on a particular day. Insurance companies have a license to print money, your money.

A lot of insured do not submit claims against their policies as the cost will increase or you policy cancelled, even if it was not their fault. Once you policy has been cancelled it will be very difficult to get a new policy and the cost will increase.
I know of people who are paying anywhere from $1,500 to $7,500 per year for car insurance.

When it comes to insurance the motto is, shop, shop and shop some more. Shop around; an independent insurance broker should be able to get you the best rate available for your particular circumstances.
