Subject: Urgent- Pls help Work experience Doubt
  Dear Folks,
I need all of your expertise and good will to answer my question to fill the Immigration form. I have 11 months experience in one NOC listed occupation and then I was not working for more than 1 yr . After that I started work in the same occupation and has been working ever since for the last 7 months.
My doubt is , since I worked only 11 months and then took a break and again started working , can I claim point for 1 yr experience (11 months +(Gap)+ 7 months = 1 yr and 6 months) eventhough there was a break in between the experiences?
Pls reply friends,I am a borderline case and my future depends on the answer,
Regards
Syd

if u lie and later if CIC asks you to prove with documents that 7 month gap where u have no paystubs or tax returns for u will be in trouble..but i guess the 11 months u have worked is good enuf be truthful that way ur background check wont have any problems

Hi Syd,

Minimum requirements of a skilled worker:

The applicant MUST have at least one year of CONTINUOUS full-time paid work experience, or the continuous part-time equivalent, that:

? is in the category of Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B, according to the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC);
? occurred within 10 years preceding the date of application;
? is not in an occupation that is considered a restricted occupation. At the time of printing, there were no occupations designated as restricted.

(Page 11)

Therefore technically you do not have the required minimum work experience. You can take the advice of a lawyer but I suggest that you wait for 5 months to complete your 1 year of continuous work experience.

While you are waiting I suggest that you appear in IELTS and try to get a score of atleast 7 in all the section to get the max 16 points for english proficiency.

If you have (true) documented proof for both the 11 month and 7 month periods you will be more than okay. CIC dosen´t care about the gap. I am certain about this. You will be interviewed though. Make sure they do not have even the slightest dought about your other points.

Dear freinds,
Thanks for the reply.This site is wonderful and full of helpful people. I feel happy and I am confident now.
As the experience of 11 months and 7 months occured within the last 10 yr , I think I can claim points for 1 yr if taken together(11 months+ Gap+ 7 months) ,eventhough there is a gap inbetween 11 months and the 7 months blocks.I have proof for my experiences. It is genuine experiences
