Subject: degree conversion
I hear conflicting stories about uk degrees and their value in Canada for employment purposes. Does anyone know of a free www that converts uk degrees to their Canadian counterparts?

Some require that you are a landed PR before they assess your credentials.

Their value for employment purposes? Hahahaha. Zero. If you have some kind of professional qualification you can look into getting it accredited e.g. for health professionals, but if you only have a general degree, it isn´t worth anything. You could perhaps see what GPA equivalent you have (I´m guessing you got a 2:1, like practically everyone, which grad. schools here claim is a 3.0 or above) but employers won´t recognise the degree as being equivalent to a Canadian one. Trust me, I have a First from a top 10 Uni. and am doing the kind of job a high school graduate does. You can´t be bitter, just accept it as the Canadian way of doing things and look to go back to school over here for something more useful!
