Subject: Next step will be...?
  Hello!
I have a general question ref to the application process. It would be very helpful if you could tell me how the process looks like.
To my application:
In September (2005) I send my application (Skilled worker, PR) to the canadian embassy in Berlin. 2 weeks later (still in September) I received my AOR with a file no. At the beginning of October I sent my TEF-results to the embassy which I already mentioned in my application in Sept.
Besides the first AOR-letter in September I did not receive any other information or letter from the embassy. I am regularly checking my application status at www.cic.gc.ca, but there is no other information than "in process" and the information about the starting to process my application (21st september).

I know that it is too early to ask about the definite timelines. But what and when could generally be the next step? I do not know exactly what will be the next: the interview or the medical checkup? If my application should not be approved (e.g. because of internal reasons like not enough score points or missing documents, before the medical exam etc), when will I be informed at the latest about the negative status of my application(by 1 year or when??)?
I tried to find some information in the internet, but there are no exact statements on it how an application process for PR/Skilled worker looks like....
I would be very thankful for every information on it.... Thanks!
Lucy

not sure what the general time line is for Berlin (they may have said on your letter) but you now wait your turn for an immigration officer to review all the information in your file and to make a first determination. After that they may request more documents, or perhaps an interview.

Best case scenario is that you will get a letter telling you that your interview is waived and that you should conduct your medicals.

Hi!
Thank you for your postings!
Is it really true: for next information I have to wait 1 year, in september 2006? Oh, so I really have to wait... So, as far as I can understand, the next step would/could be an interview and then the medical test.... ok. Thanks
lucy

Hi,

Here´s the timeline for Berlin as per CIC´s website:

Berlin 30% of the case is finished in 12 months
50% of the case in 14 months
70% of the case in 38 months
80% of the case in 44 months

Since you already have the AOR number, most probably CIC is already satisifed with your documentations. However, they can still ask for more supporting documents anytime.

Unfortunately, no one can really tell when will the next communication arrive....good luck

I am told that AOR simply means you have filled in all the required IMM forms and you are now in the system. No judgement will be rendered until IA. Joe05 has shown you some previous ranges of application times. Future processing might be a little different but history is all we have to work on. The reason for the range is due to the possible need for additional documents, interviews, waiting for replies from applicants etc. So, there is motivation to always be prompt with your responses to CIC.

Thank you all very much for your answers!
Of course, I know I have to be patient. But when you don?t hear anything from the embassy, you start to think more and more if everything is ok.....
But now I know what could be the next: an interview and then the medical checkup because I did don?t know the right order in the application process.
Thank you once again
Lucy
