A lot of people working in US on H1 apply for Canadian immigration just as a backup. Getting a US GC is taking a lot of time and Canada seems to be an alternative.

How annoying that H1 holders use up the quotas of visas for those who really want to come and live and work in Canada!!!

chill out and do not act like you do not have back up plans. And how about your country saying "N ! how annoying you are giving up me and going to another country. After all we invested so much in making you a person worth more than 67 points"
Every body has a right to seek the better option, provided they are fortunate enough to have multiple options

so what´s your situation, N?? i understand what you´re saying but most are in the same boat. if you had an H visa and the GC application failed, you would be doing the same thing too (as would I).

well, the biggest advantage is that you wont have to deal with INS anymore, or USCIS these days.
second, the canadians welcome you at the border.
the rest are personal preferences.

with canadian immigration also, ur chances of coming back to US and do the work is less. I guess u have to find work in canada and u have to forget about US atleast for a while.

When you get a Canadian permanent residency status, you have to live in Canada for 180 days per year to maintain that status. If you live in Canada for less than that period then there will be cancellation of your Canadian permanent residency. You are back to 0 level.
