Subject: SW employment status at interview time
  Hi All,

Applied (U.S. citizen) as SW category in Nov. 2004 to Buffalo. Got AOR in March 2005 and am waiting for IA. Currently have a skilled worker category job in U.S. (Information Technology).

I´d like to resign my current job now, take time off, wait out the IA and PR, then move to Canada. I´d also use the time to look for a job in Canada. My question: Is being unemployed in one´s SW category at the time of the interview viewed negatively or doesn´t matter in the eyes of CIC or the immigration officer? Do they look at current employment in assessing?

Thanks, Richard

I dont think it matters. You can always say that you have been using the time to actively search for work in Canada.

all they need to see is one year of job in the last ten years of your life.

Anonymous,

If that´s the case, then why do they ask for current employment letter as addition doc after IA?
