Subject: dependent 22 years of age
My sister in the Philippines is applying as independent immigrant to canada. Her problem is her daughter who is her dependent, is 22 years old, a college graduate but has no permanent job yet, will be left behind and no immediate family to stay with when her whole family moves to canada. Is there a way that my sister (the primary applicant)can write a letter of appeal requesting to consider processing her daughter´s papers together with with her application. Where does she send this letter? Can she send this letter along with her application?.

Hi
I think the dependents age is locked to application date

I think there are only certain conditions when to allow a child over the age of 22 to be a dependent child. He/she should have mental or physical conditions or if he/she is studying full time and fully dependent on the parent. Not very sure of the wordings.

I would suggest you consult a lawyer since this is not a simple case.

On the other hand, if the daughter finds a job and gains enough experience, she too might be eligible to apply as skilled worker.

good luck

Yeah syd is right, the age is locked in at the time of application...but should be under 22...is the daughter already 22 or will be 22?

Hi Carol,

Your sister can include her daughter to her application if she qualifies as a dependent child.

Dependent children:

Daughters and sons, including children adopted before the age of 18, who:

? are under the age of 22 and do not have a spouse or common-law partner;

? have been continuously enrolled as full-time students and financially supported by their parents since turning 22 (or from the date of becoming a spouse or common-law
partner if this happened before the age of 22); or

? have substantially depended on the financial support of their parents since before turning 22 and are unable to support themselves due to a medical condition.

my bro sponsor my parents including me and my sis as dependants
all family member got their medical form except me
we have been waiting this immigration for last 5 years
if i fail to get immigration i am the only memeber left in pakistan
imagining being dependant and lonely in my home country is nightmare

we current live in pakistan . the problem is that i have been
continous enrolment as a full time student through out my career but in 1999 and in 2000 I got changed my university doing one semester there and joing some other univerty and doing one semester there . i have addmission slip of universities which i had taken admision

since 2001 i have clean record doing master and post graduate program in state university .

now canadian authorities sent this letter
to us not considering me fulfiling requrement of dependants
please help me in this regard and suggest any modification in
my academic history .
already submitted all my original transcripts and degrees (completed one ) that how they reviwed and ask
for evidence .

the problem is the universities(for uncompleted programs) staff is incoperative .They usually fail to identify my problem .
they most probably do not issue the letter certying my period there for the programe which was not completed by me ,the programes which was left by me in middle . Even if I got the letter
during verification by canadian authority , i am not sure
anyone there at university to certify my enrollment there
