nursing job for new Canadian (in reply to: nurse profession questions)
My wife will be coming from China, and has over 10 years of working as a nurse technician in a hospital (child labour/ delivery specialty)
was hoping if anyone can give any help or contact information of what would be required to continue working in the health field in Alberta ,Canada.
I know she will have to take IELT courses for english
and read a past post about a validation test for nurses.
hope to goto grant Mcewan college maybe they have some help or a hosptial recruiter.

Is she a nurse or nurse technician? These are two different fields

I admit I don´t know anything about nursing, but isn´t child delivery done by a midwife and not by a nurse? So which one is she? If she´s a nurse you might want to check out http://www.nurses.ab.ca/careers/schools.html for the schools she would definitely have to go to to update her qualifications to Canadian ones (normal for foreigners). She will probably have to have a Bachelor´s of Nursing degree judging by what that website says. And IELTS is definitely required.
On the positive side, nurses are in very high demand so in the long run it would probably be worth all the time money and effort to get her over here!
