Subject: Proof of funds question
Does CIC accept copy of money order or travelers check as proof of funds when they ask for it after IA? Must it be bank statement only?.
In other words If I send them copy of money order showing $11,000, in my name, would they accept that.

You must provide what they ask for. I think a money order would be very suspicious. It looks like you simply got a relative to cut a check and then you returned the money after making a copy. They would wonder why that much money is not in an account.

Hi Elmo,

Why not just put your money in a CD or time deposit..make it long-term...that way the money is not readily accesible but earning some interest. You can submit the time deposit certificate as proof of funds.

Elmo, you don´t need to convince me. I am simply saying that the cic may find it odd. They may not believe your reason as it is just as easy to cash out a money order as it is to withdraw money from a bank. I think Joe has an excellent idea.
