Subject: Getting a Canadian job during the process
I´ve seen previous posts mentioning that at interview time, the immigration officer may ask SW applicants what efforts they´ve initiated to try to secure a job in Canada.

We know that the IA process takes at least 9 months from AOR, and another few months for interview, medicals, fingerprints / background check befor PR is issued. And we know that you can´t work in Canada until a PR is issued.

Mu question is how could CIC expect the applicant to find a job and expect the employer to wait 9 months or more for issuance of permanent residency?

Getting a job is NOT a requirement for visa. If they ask you about getting a job, just tell them you´re in the process of doing research through agencies like workopolis.com, etc.

Ok, thanks for the info, catocan. I do think based on previous posts that at the interview they may ask what you´ve done to reseach getting a job while you´re waiting for the visa.

Hi Richard, it may or may not be asked. There really is no standard set of interview questions..it all depends upon the interviewing officer...it would be to your best interest though to start exploring sites like workopolis.com so you could have a slight idea how the job market is in Canada...that way if the question is asked, you would have an honest answer...for all you know your interview will be waived and this will all be for nothing :) good luck

Thanks, Joe. I might be anticipating more than necessary, especialy if interview waived. But you´re right, good to show reasonable attempt to be informed on one´s job prospects in Canada, if asked. Workopolis and Monster.
