Hi guys,
My name is Andreea Apostol and I?m am the co-owner and chief-editor of www.globalimmigrant.org
I am looking for people that have immigrated and that have a story to tell: good or bad...
I want to publish the stories on the Home Page of www.globalimmigrant.org
Please have a look at the website as it wants to be a place like no other. It?s up to people like you if we will succeed?
Website content (so far):
Work from home ideas, freelance ideas, forum where u can buy, sell, advertise and post importantly: talk about your life as an immigrant (both positive and negative parts), facts about immigration, links. The website it targeted to an international audience (although we are based in Ireland).

Now why would anyone be willing to post an intimate life story about immigrating on the web? I think one should be very careful, if interested, in getting into this. I think our website serves it´s purpose more than enough, no?

Thank you very much for your feedback.
I am just trying to create a place where people can share (whatever they want to share)... There is nothing to be careful about: I am not looking for personal details but more like for... experiences, feelings and emotions.
I was looking for a place like I desire GlobalImmigrant to become and I haven?t really found one, so... I decided to create it...
Talking, sharing, learning... it all helps. Thats all.

No offence, but shouldn´t you add some real content on the site before asking someone else to contribute? One article stolen from Wikipedia plus another selling an ebook does not a website make. Sorry.

IMO, this site serves nothing but trying people to fall for the various (and numerous) advertisements, like Home Based Online businesses, etc. that seem to appear everywhere amongst a lot of clutter of vague and questionable, much too detailed (probably to throw you off) writing.

The website is under construction, I was looking for real people with real stories to complete the original idea.

Obviously it is a well organized and planned website. You have added lot of useful immigration links. Any starter will love your site. Thumbs up from me.
But do not be sad or mad when people get mad or upset on you. Because no one likes you enter in someone´s domain and advertise for yours What if someone open a new site, enter in your forum, lure your viewer/member and even your advertisers ... how will you feel? Ethical issues are very sensitive in the business and we live with it with respectation.
But, hey, good luck!

I actually have an advertising area in the forum as I want people to have more freedom of advertising their work (more than normally allowed). :)
But anyway, I do understand where you (and them) are coming from and appreciate all feedback. I am trying to do something that will be useful...
I have worked a lot in gathering all those links and I am working even more in adding more useful information? I have also contacted some local (ie Dublin/Ireland) immigration focused organizations as Id like to get some personal profiles/success stories and what not from real people?
So anyway, thanks for all feedback, I appreciate it, good or bad.

I have no issues with a site like roadtocanada which fulfils a certain need. I have no issues with websites that carry advertising. In fact, of the 10 best immigration-related sites I can think of, only the ones published or financed by the government are advertisement-free.
What I *do* have issues with is a site like that featured in the original post, and I´ll tell you why. It is a site that is focused on making money ahead of providing genuinely useful content. The one "article" on the site is taken from Wikipedia. The other pages are filled with links that either sell something like e-books or are designed to earn referral fees from sites like Rent-A-Coder and ELance when someone clicks on them.
How do I know? I have been in both publishing and advertising for the longest time, and I can see things that may not be as obvious to others.
Again, I would not have issues with this (you have to fund your site somehow) IF you had balanced it by providing original, useful content. Taking the easy way out by offering links to other sites and asking visitors to this and other forums to deliver you content on a platter... well, like I said, sorry, but I have serious issues with that.
I´d be more than happy to change my tune and even plug your site if and when you do everything you say you aim to do. Until then, I consider this a cash-grab.
PS: To the poster that thought I have something to do with this site/forum and that´s why I voiced my objection, let me clarify that I don´t.
