Yes I did email them, and they replied that they are still running the background check on me and they could not tell me the expected date for the finalization of my case. I did ask them about the medical in the same email but they did not answered me.

Hey Canadian,
The response that I got back was different. It said my application has been placed in line for a final review. Now I do not know if that means whether my BG check is complete or not.

My medicals were in Dec 2004. my response was " Your application for permanent residence will be reviewed for finalization early 2006 " Can you guys literally write your responses to share ?

I sent a letter (via regular post) to buffalo on Sep 15 informing them about the change in my mailing address. In the same letter I had asked them about the status of my application. I received a letter from buffalo on Sep 27 (dated Sep 22) and this is what it contained:
"Your application has been placed in line for final review with an officer. It could take upto 3 months for the processing to complete and you will notified once all the formalities have been completed"
Then on Nov 15th I sent an email to buffalo asking them about the status of my application and also informing them that my medical validity will be expiring on Jan 2006.
This is the response I got the following day:
"Your application for permanent residence will be reviewed for finalization early 2006.
Votre demande de r?sidence permanente sera examin?e pour une d?cision finale au d?but de 2006. "
The following is my timeline:
Applied: Mar 2004
AOR: Apr 2004
IA: Nov 2004
Medicals completed: Jan 2005
ROLF + Addl docs sent: Jan 2005

Thanks alot for the information. It was indeed very useful. I have got my IA and medicals in dec 2004. after a fax in June 2005 , i got a letter from them stating that they are doing the background check and that it could take 9 to 12 months. On the same letter , there was a little fineprinting : " status\background april 05" I guess they started the background check in april 05. I also got my e-client changed to " A decision has been made in your application and the office will contact you for this decision" around march 2005..
I sent them an e-mail in October and I got " Your application for permanent residence will be reviewed for finalization early 2006" I did send them again two e-mails crying :) that my medicals are gonna expire in dec 2005, i got the same response.
I finally sent them a letter last week about medical expiration and ppr .. I am waiting their answer now ..

Since we got that response me and u , i am assuming our file are complete.. it is not a standard reply and someone has found a typo in that message in another forum.. plus , many other people are getting different answers.
I personally believe that they just enter the file number in their database and check the status without reading the whole e-mail . and then they reply automatically ..

When did your eclient status change? My eclient always shows "In Progress" though I know my medicals has been received (I know this from CAIPS). I have ordered CAIPS once more on Oct 20 and I am waiting to receive it.
