Subject: Spouse sponsorship question. The financial side.
  Hi everyone :)

My girlfriend (qualifying as a common-law partner and, hopefully, a spouse in the nearest future :) is a Canadian citizen. We´ve been living together for about 2 years outside of Canada.

I´ve read that one doesn´t need to show any proof of income or financial resources to sponsor a spouse/common-law partner/conjugal partner.

Is this the case?

If not, how much money do we(or she) have to have on our bank account?

Thanks in advance!

I think you have to fill in the financial forms but what you earned doesn´t matter, as long as the sponsor is not receiving money from the Govt (unemploymeny benefit). As you´re outside, you do have to show proof you´re coming back, like a job offer, perhaps having money in the bank would help as it IS costly to move abroad. Or a letter from your parents stating you´d live with them for a bit, or a lease or something. But as far as the money itself goes, no, it doesn´t matter what you´re earning.

Spouses are not required to fill out a financial form as long as either part has no dependant children. and they are eligible as long as they do not owe any money, as said before, are on welfare, have no criminal history and have not filed bankruptcy.

you can find what would find you admissable or inadmissable/spousal qualifications for sponsoring etc at

www.cic.gc.ca

I hope I have helped.

you can also check out www.roadtocanada.com there are lots of people there doing inland as well as spousal sponsorships abroad.
