Subject: bank statement
  Hi everybody,
I am a student in canada .

APP - SEP 2004
AOR- JAN 2005
IA, MED - DEC 2005

I am asked to produce bank statement with past 3 month transaction.
Is that mean that i should show the minimum funds $12,500 (for me and my wife).
or can i show less than that . i am scared that if i show less that they may reject.
but in the letter they didnt mention anything.

be careful (in reply to: bank statement)
tintin,
i think cic is doubting your genuinity to show the funds. hence they are asking for 3 months statement . be careful. they can reject the application if you cannot prove unencumbered funds

I have a question too, what happens if people just use their creditcard for transaction, do you just provide creditcard statement?

Yes, CIC wants to see how much you have and also how much you are earning per month.

They want to make sure that you donot borrow money for a week or so to show funds and return it.

This is interesting CIC has never asked like this before; I mean they ask for fund proof but not for 3 months. Here it is clear they may be suspicious of the fund claims.

here is DB´s dummy question again, if person like me, just use creditcard and pay off every month, how the hell cic gonna know where is the money from? on 3 month transaction, it only shows payment amount!!!!!

And if I use cash adavance from creditcard plus line of credit from bank, CIC can´t even know base on creditcard plus bank statement!

I don´t think credit card statements are admissible as funds.

I mean if CIC asked for transaction, what about people just use creditcard for daily transaction, that´s my question.

Yeah but then you will pay every month from your bank to your credit card statement. That´s what CIC wants. Flow of funds in (income) and out (payments) from your bank.

The idea is for CIC it know how much "cash liquid" you are. Your credit card has nothing to do with it. The bank statement is the esiest way to know that. That is why CIC asks for bank statements.

credit card is a debt. you are borrowing money from VISA every months. That is not considered unencumbered funds- it is considered potential debt.
