Subject: am I misrepresent myself?
I joined this forum two days ago, and it is so intersting because there are so many things about immigration I didn´t know before.
now, I become curious about my own situation. I will try to give detail as much as I can and I wish someone could give me a relief answer to my situation.
I came to canada as a refugee claimant(2003) and at that time my civil status was married with some kids. after I got my IRB´s positive decision(on 2004), I asked my wife and kids to join me in canada by include them in my PR aplication but she turned me down by saying that she already had a BF while I am away(I´ve been away from her since 2000/over than 4 years) in other word she refused my offer and instead of coming to join me she claimed a divorced against me under my home country law. so I decided to file my PR aplication with exclude them all(wife & kids).
but my civil status still married until I got my PR status, in fact my divorce certificate is dated earlier than my PR status´s date.
(on the date I got my PR status I didn´t have my divorced certificate in hand because that certificate still in my mom house at my home country)
my question is:
did I give a mispresentation???
what should I do to correct my marriage status? because I planning to re-married soon here in canada?
Am I in big trouble?

please help me out with this, I wish I am not in big trouble...

thank you so much

I think it is important that you advise CIC about your status change. In your case, I would be inclined to think that you will be OK. I think what Canada is more interested in is that you have extra ´surprise´ family rather than fewer family that will be settling with you. The only reason I would thing otherwise is if you used your wife´s skills to assist your qualification for Canadian residency.

Thank you very much for your quick reply, sharon. and it is a very relief answer even it is not totally relief because you mention about "if YOU used your wife´s skill to assist your qualification for canadian residency" which is I dont understand the relation to my situation because as I stated above that I got my PR status through refugee case.
please give me further help.
thank you & GBU

I was referring to a skilled worker application. I think you will be fine. The best action is to advise CIC about your status change.
