Subject: Change of Status
  Hi Guys,

I applied for Permanent Resident (Skilled worker) with my common-law partner last year and have received my AOR early this year. 3 months ago, I married my common-law partner.

I sent a fax to the embassy informing them of my status change and inquired for the necessary documents for me to update our application.

A few weeks later, I received a mail containing a list of forms for me to fill-up and update our application as well as a list of requirements for me to submit. These are:

1)documentary proof of our relationship (as common-law) like photos, greeting cards, letters, etc)

2)NSO Certificate of No Previous Marriage for myself and my partner

3)Employment certifications with detailed duties and responsibilities

4)Processing fee for my common law partner (CAD $550)

5) Academic credentials (transcript of records, diploma) of my common-law partner.

This is confusing because I have already included numbers 1,3,4,5 when I submitted our application last year and I doubt if NSO (National Statistics Office) can provide us with #2 as we are already ´Married´ in their records (Certificate of No Previous Marriage are for individuals with ´Single´ status).

Please advice my appropriate action. Can the embassy answer my inquiries if I give them a call?

Dilbert,

Can NSO provide you with a doc stating that you have never been married before THAT marriage? I hope so.
If not-try emailing the embassy asking them to clarify the situation.

Thanks. My plan is to fax the embassy and clarify the situation.

By the way, I tried calling the embassy yesterday and all I got was a voice-recording telling me that I will not be able to talk to a live person.
