dear sharon and other canadians ,
i have applied to migrate to canada. my family are leading a pretty settled life in australia.but due to certain family reasons we applied to migrate to canada. i find that canadians are very friendly and jovial people who welcome immigrants and are not xenophobic.
but i am getting scared on reading some reports about job scenario. i read that there is no job in canada and will have to struggle quite sometime before settling into canada.
so dear mates, pls advice - will it be a foolish decision to come to canada just for family reasons leaving a good life in australia.
will i get screwed up ?

we are sitting with 6.? unemployment - that is the lowest it has been in 30 years. Jobs are not the issue - finding the right match is. I do not know your training or areas of interest. I do not know how flexible you are about job titles. Do you want to come to Canada to practice your specific profession or do you wish to come and start a new life? Get the drift of my questions. One is much harder and more restrictive than the other.

How´s your english? are you willing to go where there is work or do you want to live in a specific place. How much cash are you coming with? One working- two working...

it is never easy to pack up and start again. It really depends on you, your expectations, and how determined you are.

I don´t think I answered your question... but I tried.

This really has to be *your* judgment call.

Canada´s jobless rate is currently at a 31-year low. So theoretically at least, it´s as good a time as any to be able to find a job.

I have a counter-question for you. If you were to move to another city in your own region where you knew nobody, your qualifications were not fully accepted, and your accent was different from what people were used to, how easy would it be for you to adjust?

If your answer is "very easy", Canada may just be the place for you.

thanks for your nice and thought provocative replies . i am in a good position here now. so i will give thoughts again, again and again before coming there . i dont want to come and work as a driver or cleaner . me and wife are professionals . it is just the thought that canadians are very friendly people and immigrant friendly made me think to come there and also my brother .

it is a huge decision. It is worse than changing careers or moving across town. You change everything about your life all at one. Not an easy decision and not one you want to take lightly.
