  Hi all,
ust read this article..found it very good.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20051212.wmarinapromo1212a/BNStory/specialDecision2006/

Please comment on ways to improve the working of the process, and to reduce the backlog.

I agree that,
1)Foreign credentials should be recognised.
2)The annual intake of applications at all visa posts should be regulated, to curb the backlog mess.

Syd you misunderstood, if intake is regulated we would know for certain when our turn would come, ie all those whose application is accepted in a certain year would know reasonably well that their case will be completed in a stipulated time, and not made to wait unexplained period of length. And those who could not make it in that year, will have their files in queue, to be taken up in the subsequent year/s. I don´t mean to debar those who coulde not make it in that year. This would be a more logical way.
It is like saying the same story, but in an organised way..
Now this is not selfish..is it? If you still feel bad, then I am sorry.

How can they regulate the annual intake? They can´t force people to apply or not apply just to keep the numbers ´right´. And they already have a quota system in place so not too many people from the same country get in - that´s what creates the backlogs, when applications get pushed back a year because the limit is full!

The only way can be, to have regulations different for different centers. This way there will be complete transparency. And taking into account these quotas for different centers, all those qualifying at that center will be taken up on first come first in basis, those late will be told that the quota for the year is full and if they so wish they can file it later themselves or leave it with them for next years entry..
It is confusing, but if the experts try, a way can be found to get out of this mess.
