Subject: Language Proficiency (IELTS)
  Hi
I am planning to send my application to london this dec but still I didnt get IELTS. However Ive got certification from my previous schools stating that english is the medium of instruction. How can i rate this to my language proficiency? Is it possible to send my application without IELTS results? Ill be taking the exam on Feb 2006.

Thanks,

Cris

Cris,
I would suggest you to wait until you get your IELTS results. Nearly every non-native speaker is getting a request to submit IELTS. As you mentioned that you are going to take IELTS in Feb then it would be wise to wait for the IELTS results. This way you can avoid uncertainty in your application and you would exactly know how many points are you gonna get for your English proficiency.
If you are in a hurry you can submit your application with other proofs of English proficiency together with supporting documents.

hope it helps

If you are all set, I think it is okay to submit your application with your English certification even without the IELTS. I personally did not take the IELTS and was able to get the maximum points in English BUT my interview was not waived so maybe it was a factor.

That said...it is advisable to take the test as scheduled on February. If you will submit your application in December, you would probably get your file number in January or February. You can then submit the IELTS results in February. But remember to wait for your file number before submitting the IELTS results to CIC. You always need to put your file number in every communication you make to CIC specially updates of credentials.

Also, in order to get the maximum 16 points in the English Language, you need to score at least 7 in EVERY subject in the IELTS test.

good luck.

I applied as a SW in Oct 2005 and got AOR in Nov 2005 without IELTS as I submitted supporting documents. In Dec 2005, I got a letter from CIC asking me to take the IELTS test and send the results.

So, as Scientist says, if you are in hurry send all the documents and if CIC is not satisfied with your supporting documents, they will inform you to take IELTS. But you may always send the IELTS results after sending the application.

Send in the application if it is ready. If they accept your application and issue a file number then atleast you will get in queue.

At the same time take a date to appear in IELTS as soon as possible. When you get the result send it to London and ask then to add the IELTS to your existing application.

Definitely start sending your application. It´ll take at least 2 months to get AOR and you´ll still have plenty of time to get the scores in within the IA timeframe.
