Subject: what would you do??
now i have decisions to make. it appears as if i have secured a job IN MY FIELD in my home country and i´m still awaiting my IA. now i´m not sure what i should do. should i turn this job down and still go to canada knowing all the difficulties recent immigrants have or do i accept the downgrade in lifestyle and have a job in my field?? i really like canada from the little i´ve seen but this is a huge decision.

what would you guys do?? with all this IA nonesense, i´m leaning towards just taking the job and my 365 days/yr of 80 deg. weather close to the equator..lol!!

tell us which one is your home country. then we can tell what future you will have there . If it bangladesh or nepal , if i were you , i would go to canada.

From your words about Canada and life there, I would say mate please stay in YOUR COUNTRY and never come to Canada...Seems you already hate Canada, but cannot not get it why did you apply to go somewhere that you already have many negative thoughts of ? Good luck with your new job..

Its a ticky question but the answer might not be as difficult as you think it is.For starters you are still awaiting yout IA and by the time you get your visa it will take some time. Now, whenever you get your visa, you can very well land in Canada and come back to wherever you are and continue working in your new job for sometime and see how it goes. Also you can look for work in Canada through the internet ot other sources and see what happens. Maybe you will get a good break in Canada. You can always delay going to Canada permanently as in orer to maintain your PR you have to live in Canada for a certain amount of time, which I think is 2 years in 5 years time. You can delay going to Canada for at least two more years after you get your visa and by that time you might be in a better position to deciede what you are going to do.

You never know if your new job will be what yu expected and you never know when you will get your PR and you never know wht kinds of jobs you would get in Canada. So m advise would be to take the new job, see wat happens with your visa situation and take it from there.

You nee to understand that you are still in process for the visa and when you will get it is an unknown. You alrady have the new job offer which is in your hand. So see the differene clearly !

All the best.

silentsun, don´t get me wrong, i love canada from what i saw when i was there and would love to live there. what worries me is the prospect of wasting my education by not working in my field. it comes down to a decision of what´s important, job or lifestyle.

and syd i´m from the caribbean.

I´m sorry, but that´s a terrible comment to make. I´m from neither country, but have enough experience of the region to know that what might hold true for the country overall need not apply to certain cities or individuals. Just because Bangladesh is "poor" doesn´t mean every Bangladeshi is poor, just as because Canada is rich, not everyone here is living in luxury.

The original poster voiced a legitimate concern and asked for an opinion, though a decision like that has to be his/hers alone.

If it were me, I would take the job and keep the Canada application going. Even if everything with Canada works out, it could be one to three years before you would get a ppr. By that time, you may be sick of the new job and ready to move. However, if you love your new job, you can withdraw your applicaiton. Don´t put your life on hold waiting on the uncertain actions of Canada (they have made no promises to you). Look out for yourself first and foremost. Good luck in your decision.
