Subject: Canada-The Promised Land ? (Part 2)
I all cherish the robust opinions of each contributors to this ´debate´.There are a lot of contradictions in canadian immigration process. Your certificate is evaluated based on point system yet once U are in, U cannot use same certificate to get desired job.

One need to brace up if U are in canada as what are readily available are menial/odd jobs, to add insult to injury those odd job can only even be secured thru agency and not thru the company/factory itself. The factory might be paying the agency $20/hour. U know what the agency in turn will be paying U $8-$9/hour.And from these little amount by the time they deduct tax from every paycheck U might end up getting $5-$7/hour.

U need to now decide what U will do, will U continue this agency odd job for life as some people are already stuck in there? or just go back to start afresh from school(university). The professional like pharmacists, doctors, dentists etc are not finding it easy in Canada.U will be asked to write various professional exams that CANNOT easily be passable. In Ontario alone over 4000 medical doctors are unlicensed and are therefore driving taxis, selling pizzas, working in the factory.

Those immigrants that can persevere will easily go back to school and start afresh in courses like nursing, etc. Those who cannot persevere will be hoping that one day ´he go better´.So many foreign brains and talents are been wasted readily in Canada.May God help all of us!

Its a brilliant argument and yes a valid discussion. There are many immigrats who are just being wasted as a result of the system or lack of qualifications as per the Canadian system. On the other hand unemployment is believed to be at the lowest in Canada at the moment. Yes these are figures and analysis and this is not what the situation on the ground is, many might say. In my opinion however I agree woth you and It is not a good situation at all.

Having said that I am confident that if people look at other means of generating an income other than doing a 9-5 job or trying to work for soemone else. there are any opportunities that exist if you wnat to open up your own business . the internet is booming again and there are hundreds and thousands of things one can do and be your own boss. I guess once you take a decision and if you are unable to come out of it, you tend to get stuck with it and go soemwhere that you did not think you would land into. If you are presently troubled or are having problems with finding jobs, I urge you to keep lookin for jobs and not lose hope. If at all possible you can do a canadian course or degree, I am sure that will help you in establishing yourself. Also try and research some online business ideas and see if soemthing might be woth doing for you. There is a lot of stuff going on with Google, eBay and Yahoo etc. Things like MLM, SEO, PPC are soemthings that are gettin hotter by the day.

Its tough to go through tough times, but I hope your patience and persistence will give you a better future including all the people who have had bad experiences with jobs etc.

All the best !

One need to brace up if U are in canada as what are readily available are menial/odd jobs,

*not true. it is not only a choice between being a doctor or a janitor. There are thousands of jobs across all sectors that are waiting for workers. If they require provincial licensing - then I am sure the same would be true if a Canadian came to your home country with foreign skills. The government would be negligent not to insure you can work within Canadian rules and standards.

to add insult to injury those odd job can only even be secured thru agency and not thru the company/factory itself.

*not true. most placement agencies do not even handle entry level employment. the newspaper is filled with job postings where you apply direct. The goverment employment office has a board full of jobs you apply for directly.*

The factory might be paying the agency $20/hour. U know what the agency in turn will be paying U $8-$9/hour.And from these little amount by the time they deduct tax from every paycheck U might end up getting $5-$7/hour.

*Jobs are not brokered in Canada. there are placement agencies that will take a fee from the employer for finding the right employee but those positions are the exception not the rule. The fee is usually one months salary. If you are working for a temporary placement agency - you would sell your services to them for a specific price and they would contract them out with a commission. It is usually $3-4 per hour. Taxes are taken on every salary that is earned in Canada. That is what pays for that free health care everyone likes - so there is no escaping taxes.*

U need to now decide what U will do, will U continue this agency odd job for life as some people are already stuck in there?
*why would you be so lazy to want an agency to find work for you?*

or just go back to start afresh from school(university). The professional like pharmacists, doctors, dentists etc are not finding it easy in Canada.U will be asked to write various professional exams that CANNOT easily be passable.

*you get the same exams as every Canadian trained professional*

In Ontario alone over 4000 medical doctors are unlicensed and are therefore driving taxis, selling pizzas, working in the factory.

*for what it´s worth- factory workers make very good wages. However, your either or scenario is very misleading.*

Those immigrants that can persevere will easily go back to school and start afresh in courses like nursing, etc. Those who cannot persevere will be hoping that one day ?he go better?.So many foreign brains and talents are been wasted readily in Canada.May God help all of us

*yes, Canada can do better to recognize credentials. However, the notion that new Canadians are doomed to misery and underemployment is simply not true.*
