It has been confirmed with the CIC that self employment is eligible for international students to apply for the one year post graduation Work Permit.
Instead of submitting a written job offer, applicants should provide a business plan, contracts to provide services and supporting documents such as a business license and incorporation documents, etc. The written business plan need not be extensive but should adequately explain the applicant´s intended activities, projected earnings, etc.
The self employment should be related to the applicant´s field of study.
The self employment should be an opportunity for the applicant to utilized knowledge and skills gained through his/her course of study. The Work Permit will be processed in Vergreville and other requirements are the same.
It´s a good news for international students who are interested in self employment after graduation!
Please Note: You can not start your business before your application is approved by Immigration.
