i am new to this site , and will appreciate all the feed back about my question

i applied for immigration in 1998 but got all my papers done in 2003 and landed in april 2004with my wife daughter and son.
my daughter at university now, but me amd mt wife and son are outside canada
my son is still in his 8 grade in school , and i have my own buisness in accounting and would like to have my own buisness in canada too.
i tried to find a buisness but with no sucsess for now and i am out of the country to keep my original work going on.
for how long can i keep this situation and how i can renew our PR when it is about to expire and nothing was done in getteing buisness in canada.

Hi Ramy,

To maintain your PR status you have to live in Canada for a period of 2 years out of 5 years starting from the day you landed in Canada as a PR.

Therefore between April 2004 and April 2009 you have to live in Canada 2 years. If you dont your PR will be cancelled.

Every individual in your family is responsible for maintaining her/his own PR status.

Like I mentioned before you MUST live in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in every 5 years period in order to maintain PR status.

730 days - Days you have lived in Canada since April 2004 = Number of days you MUST live in Canada till April 2009 to maintain you PR status.

After April 2009 the same condition of living in Canada for 2 years out of 5 applies to maintaining your PR. But the five year period is calculated by counting backwards.

For example in Sept 2009 for you to maintain you PR status you must have lived in Canada for a period of 2 years between Sept 2004 and Sept 2009.
