Subject: Should I send new passport info to CIC?
  Hi everyone,

I am a SW applicant thru Buffalo and here is my timeline:

Applied: September 2004
AOR: Dec 30, 2004
IA: June 1, 2005 (interview waived)
Medicals: July 25 2005
Additional docs: August 12 2005
Medicals Received: second week of Dec 2005

I guess I am one of the early 2006 club members.

Recently, I renewed my passport. My question is:

Should I send my new passport info to Buffalo or hold out for the PP request?

Any opinion will be appreciated!

When we renewed the passports of our children, we immediately sent notarized photocopies of the info pages. I believe it is important because CIC will base the expiration of your visa on your Medicals or Passport expiry whichever comes earlier.

I would ideally send CIC a fax mentioning that my passport has changed with attested/notarised copies attached. I think CIC prefers fax communication with the format that your file no sould be on the left side etc etc etc... It does no harm... so might as well send it....

Joe05 i thought that the validity of the visa is based on when your medicals have been completed... (I am not too sure)

Better double check... All the best !

Hello,

I just got my son´s new passport. Is it mandatory to send notarized copies, or, can I send copies without attestation?

Thanks!

Notarized photo copies would be better. However, if this would be a problem for you I believe you can just send whatever you have (the copies), that way CIC would be updated with your passport info...CIC can verify them anyway upon PPR. The most important thing is, they should be informed.

Hi,
I got my passport stolen and when I got the new one I just took personaly one simple copy of it, and the lady at the counter said it was ok. I attached a letter explaining the reason for the new passport along with a copy of the report to the police authorities.
that was done at CIC Mexico, I don´t know for other countries.

regards.
Jose Antonio
