Subject: Proof of settlement funds - is it requested again?
I sent my proof of settlement funds over a year ago with my application to Buffalo. I still do not have my IA. Since the unexpected happens during the course of a year, I had to use some of my settlement money for an emergency. Does anybody know, from experience, if proof of funds is requested again when the IA is sent out or is it only required at landing? Or is it requested with passport request? Or is it completely random and up to the immigration officer handling your case. I´d appreciate hearing any of your own experiences with this as I am nervous about the proof of funds. I am in the process of saving up all of the money but not quite there yet. Thanks.

Dear Menino,
According to my experience I think after IA when they will ask about ur pp and medical then they will ask about the proof of funds. So be ready definately they will ask.

Thanks,

if they ask for additional documents - they will generally ask for a proof of funds. upon interview (should they request one),... really, just about any time.

but you have time on your side, and in the worst case scenario... tell them the truth.

it will be OK.

And they will ask you for bank statements proving that you had the funds for a certain time period.

ditto the others. Unless you were well over the minimum amount, they will ask for proof again. In some cases where there appear to be abundant funds, they do not ask at IA. They will likely ask for three months of statements, so you might want to make arrangements to show the balance for three months. Good luck.

If you do not have sufficient settlement funds, your application will be refused, even in the case of an "emergency." Furthermore, in many cases, proof must be provided prior to the issuance of the PR visa AND at the time of landing.

How to carry funds in to canada (in reply to: Proof of settlement funds - is it requested again?) (in reply to: Proof of settlement funds - is it requested again?)
Hello,

When I tried to land for the first time in Canada Via Buffalo(NY) I forgot to take my Settlement Funds(Bank Statement) I was sent back to US again. It was a long Weekend in US and None of the Banks were opened Close by Border in Buffalo to get my Statement... So I have to goback to New Jersey from where I came and I decided to come later on Because I had 3 more months Time to land as an Immigrant.

You can Either Take Cash, Demand Draft,Travellers Check or US Checking or Savings Bank Statement...

All of the above should be Up to Date.

Another Option is Somebody from canada can come and show his Bank Statement or Funds stating that he is going to support you. But for this he has to fill up some form.

I Still didnt land in Canada I am planning to go next month I hope this Information will help you and Wont face same Problem What I faced.

Thanks,
Kiran
