Subject: Wife is P/Applicant. |
My wife is P/Applicant as she is better qualified and younger than me. She is 37 years old graduate (BS) and I am 47 years old with Secondary (12 Std) only. Otherwise we score about 70 points. Do you think our chances for qualifying will be affected due to my age and qualification?

(in reply to: Wife is P/Applicant.) Hi Amar,
Your age will have no impact on the application. The only way you as a dependent applicant could have contributed to the application is if you had a bachelors degree or a diploma. With your current qualifications you score 0 out of a max of 5 points a dependent spouse can score. See below the way CIC awards points for dependant spouse:
Spouse or common-law partner?s level of education:
? Secondary school (high school) diploma or less: 0 points
? A one-year diploma, trade certificate, apprenticeship, or university degree and at least 12 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies: 3 points
? A diploma, trade certificate, apprenticeship, or university degree of two years or more and at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies: 4 points
? A Master?s or PhD and at least 17 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies: 5 points
