Thanks Amy
Since, all is history now I do not want to scare you. If you please check your WP, it states - "This Does Not Authorize Re-Entry". Your re-entry to Canada is authorised by a valid Visa in your passport. If your passport does not carry a valid multi entry TRV (Temporary Resident Visa), you can not re-enter Canada if you go out for any reason, even for a day. A valid TRV is a must in addition to your WP to allow you to travel.

Now, please do not bother and get the necessary details from the CIC Call Center on Tuesday / Wednesday, since most of the Govt. offices are closed on Monday / Tuesday. Every thing will be alright. Enjoy your holidays. Wish you a Happy New Year.

Dear Amy
By the way, what was the validity of your original TRV? It might be valid till now, and that could be the reason for your lawyer not to apply for the extension.

Dear Amy
You carried a huge risk. If for any reason, you had to travel, you could have landed in trouble. But now do not worry about it. I travel a lot (almost travel every month) due to the nature of my job, so I have to keep my TRV valid.

Yes, you will not find CIC address on the Web. But may find it in your telephone directory.

Dear Amy
You will not find the details in Yellow pages. Yellow pages are only for business. Instead, it might be available in the Blue Pages ´Govt. Departments´ of your telephone directory.

Hi folks, I´m on a Work Permit aswell, and I was wondering about this famous phrase in the work permit "DOES NOT ALLOW RE ENTRY", I noticed that you guys were talking about it but I didn´t quite get it, in my case as a mexican citizen i don´t need a visa to get into Canada, so what happen it I want to go home for a quick visit and then come back, would I be in trouble once I try to get into Canada again?. Thanks and have a happy new year.
