Subject: Why Canada not Australia
Hi, all,

I am thinking of migrate to either Australia or Canada these days. I am a China citizen, but PR of Singapore. I think Canada is pretty cold. May I know why you chose Canada instead of Australia?

Appreciate your opinion. Thanks!

hi (in reply to: Why Canada not Australia)
Australia and Canada are equally rich.Perhaps the pay in Australia is a little bit more across all occupations and there is perhaps more support for recognition of overseas qualification in Australia . There are bodies like NOOSR for helping new immirants for recognition for overseas skills etc. It depends on whether you like the climate . If you like snow and very cold climate opt for canada . Australia is not bad climate wise. It is like a continent and you can choose any climate you like based on location. If you like to stay in a temperate climate in Australia . then settle in the state of Tasmania . If you like sunny climate setlle in Queensland

If I were you I would try to get other chinese people´s opinion about living either in Australia or Canada, I am sure they can give you a better idea. Personally (as a person who studied and lived in Australia) I would never go back to Australia becasue of high rate of discrimination in that country especially towards dark coloured people or arabic names... remember also that cold weather, rain, or such things should be taken as a postive things, ..hot climate in Australia one day really will be a big problem there becasue opposite of what we see on TV australia is a very hot country whose 6/9 of the land is dessert ...If you do not know any chinese people in Australia or Canada I can help you and provide the email addresses of some people so that you can have a better picture of the both countries in the eyes of Chinese people.. Good luck in your choice..

Canada has more favorable immigration criteria for older applicants (40´s); it also has better access to the US for business and recreation. I agree that Australia´s weather is better, but if you do well in Canada you can jet down to California whenever you want for a little sunshine.

As to treatment of minorities, I think the recent riots in Australia should be a caution. As silent sun recomended, you really should check with people of similar background in each country for a more accurate picture.

you'll feel at home in canada (in reply to: Why Canada not Australia)
There are lots and lots of Chinese people in Canada, especially in Vancouver and Toronto. Sometimes it feels like they outnumber the whites. So, you will probably feel more comfortable and at home in Canada. I am white and moved from Canada because I started to feel uncomfortable that it was slowly becoming a minority white population. Now I live in Scotland and feel alot more at home. Good luck with your new adventure! It´s more comfortable to live with people who share the same background and culture with you. So, once again, I say go for Canada.

New Zealand SUCKS so much... (in reply to: Why Canada not Australia)
My friend, if you want advice from someone that spent 4 years already in NZ and I suppose Aussie is pretty similar, don´t come here. This is the end of the world, people of other countries are severely discriminated: they ask you to do local studies and then you´ll get a shitty job to pay back your loan. They don´t want to offer YOU a better job. Overqualified people work as nightfillers in supermarkets and never get promoted, while some mediocre locals get the good jobs from the very beginning.
I´m sick and tired of this bull shit in New Zealand and decided to move to Canada...

Ylva, ---and that is why I left Scotland - Glasgow - too many refugees and illegals. I now live in the USA in a 98% white county. Scotland is gone, man. Canada, rocks!!!!

Seems some people do not like refugees or immigrants, but instead of complaining about those people why dont you try to meet them and learn their culture as well, may be they have got something nice that we would enjoy,,,we are all human beings and we got to learn to share this beautiful world together, dark or white ...And by the way leaving Canada becasue more and more chinese people or some coloured immigrants have come there is just bullshit man, get some history lessons Canada doesnt belong to White people but to those aboriginals... The white people are in fact the invaders but this not my point at this moment, I say ...let by gones be by gones ....Canada is a beautiful place and one who is living in Canada should learn to share and care other cultures as well as white people or dark people... and I guess that is what the majority of beautiful Canadians are doing instead of running away....

Rebel,
What kind of stupidity is "a 98% white country" you are another immigrant in the US or Canada.

THink... then talk......

Canada is a growing country and immigrants are helping to build a stronger Canada.

I don´t have anything against our friends down south, but for sure this is a great place to live.
CANADA Eh!
