Subject: Good News But...
Hi all good good news, today got a call from CIC telling me my file is ready for the visa and I will have to land in Canada by May 02, 2006 (my medical expires that day ) but I said I got some important project going on and I can travel after June...so they told me to have the medical done again and then I will be issued a visa after June... This is my time line,

Country of origin Azerbeijan, applied CIC in Moscow,

Application: April 2004
AOR :June 2004
Security Check from the UK: December 2004
Medicals: May 2005
Depandant added to the application: November 2005
Depandant Medical: December 2005
Phone call from CIC (today)that our passports are needed for visa and we have to leave by May the second 2006...

(No IELTS required, becasue of completing phd in the Uk, no additional pappers, no interview required)

Good luck to everyone...

u should have landed, applied for SIN CARd etc and leave to complete your projects. Thats it. You are making your process complicated. We never know when they change their whole system and you become the victim. Never take the risk, get the visa, get vacation from your projects, land in canada, do the important things and go back to finish the projects and then come back for good. Thats it. GOOD LUCK

I totally agree with Steve. There is no point postponing your landing especially if you "really" applied with the intention of doing so. Not discounting the fact that it might be difficult for you, you can just as well land on a weekend (or a long weekend) if you plan well.

I second (in this case third) the opinions expressed here by steve and Phaedrus, pls take a week off and get the PR process out of your mind and be done with it. You can then finish off whatever you are doing and plan properly to do the second landing !
Canada gives you 3 yrs grace period to finish your projects, so take advantage of that, rather then postpone the entire process again.

Just my 2 cents.
Raj.

Thanks guys I apreciate all your posts but let me explain my personal project, I got a work project 2 years ago and I will have to run the project until June(due to our contract) if I do not, legally I will have to pay about 30.000 usa dollars and if I continue ( still doing it ) until the end of June I will get 50.000 usa dollars. Secondly, my son is going to complete his studies here in June...And the CIC were very polite while dealing with my case, they told me to have the medical done and send my passport, together with the landing fee...And concerning the possibility of changing their pointing system even ... if they change the pointing system that will not affect anyone who applied before they take a new decision ...Just remember the old pointing system that didnt affect anyone who applied before their new decision ..So what would you do if you were me ?

amanfromsomewhere,

you are postponing what people in this forum including me would die to get it ASAP.

My advice to you is to land in as soon as possible and then go back to your projects. I have a feeling that the whole system of immigration may change with the Tories gaining powers in this election.

Seems like you already made up your mind. Thanks for letting us know that you really don´t worry if you eventually do not get to immigrate to Canada.

I wish there was a way for CIC to push back the "casual applicants" in favor of the "serious applicants" in the waitlist. As CanadianWannage mentioned, there are a lot of people who would die to get what you are being offered but are not ready to take. It is a shame that the time CIC spent in processing your case could have been better spent had they processed a case for someone who really wants to immigrate to Canada right away. People here are putting their lives on hold just to get to the stage that you are at and deserve much better than this.

Needless to say, there are my personal views and by definition nobody has to find them agreeable in any form whatsoever.

Well mate,
Of course I want to go to Canada but that doesnt mean negletting the huge money I will recieve soon and suffer in Canada, I want that money so that I can have a good life in Canada, ...That is true many people are dying for going to Canada but that is becasue of the life standards in their own country, some want to go to canada becasue they are living in shit in their own country...My reason to go to canada is to have a better education for my son, to have a better life, human rights, etc. My main concern is not financial like those many others who want to go to Canada, ..So I am planing everything very well, and for sure I will go to Canada but will not take risks such as destroying the opportubity of getting a lot of money... One day you will all see that I will get the money and will have been landed in Canada having some money in my pocket..Thanks for your posts
