What would you do if you were me?
I´m in Canada under work permit that will expire in march 2007. I applied for PR to Buffalo on March 2005 with AOR April 2005. Beyond march 2007 I think it will be very dificult to renew my work permit ad HRDC approval is dificult to obtain. So in other words I realy have to get PR before March 2007 (two years processing times).
I wrote Buffalo and they suggested to apply as sponsored spouse (my wife is Canadian), keeping my first PR application open.
Now I have three options in regards to where to send the sponsored application:
- Romania (home country): processing time 4-7 months but I´ll be enable to go for an interviw if required because I risk to be denied entry when I´ll come back. Plus my wife is a teacher and she won´t be able to come if required.
- Buffalo (I stayed In Canada for more than one year): again the same problems
- Vegreville: I have the advange of receiving on open work permit and approval in principle in approx 8 months, but having the PR in Canada application I won´t be able to obtain a visitor visa (needed when I´ll come back from my trip to romania in the summer). I will also have problems at the border because they might deny entry having the in Canada application. Even if I might be allowed to enter I don´t want to take a chance and to lose my job, etc.
I also don´t know if I should postpone my trip to romania in the summer until after I´ll get the PR.
Please let me know what you think and if you have any advices.
Thanks
Mircea

(in reply to: please help! advice) I would go with the sponsorship, Vegreville, and postpone your trip. Although it may be longer than applying through Romania, at least you won´t have to worry about going back to Romania for an interview. But if you go back for the interview, and you´re sucessful and they stamp your passport, why would you risk being denied entry into Canada?
Or, you could take the chance, apply through Romania and hope that they waive the interview.
I´m not an expert, these are only my thoughts. Best of luck to you, I know this is not an easy choice, i.e, figuring out which option is best.
