you must be confused by so many people who never really got H1b visa and crossed between the borders.
my answer is H1b visa is only valid when you work in the place claimed on your visa.
if you physically move to Canada and you don´t work in the US, you H1b is not valid any more. you have to apply for visitor visa to go back to the states.
all the other answers which have different meanings rather than this are wrong.

(in reply to: To Sam about the H1b visa) Vampire is right. So you take your last pay check with you along with a letter from your employer that you are still woking with the company. Show these and your I-94 in the boarder, you are OK to come in to USA. There was no problem for the poeple I know who came in here in USA for the last couple of months. Good luck.

in reply to freedom (in reply to: To Sam about the H1b visa) I have a question for you. I have H1B visa valid till July of 06 and I have got canadian immigration. I have valid I-94 but no visa stamping.
Is there any problem if I land in Canada with my Immigration visa and apply for PR and comeback within 30days to US?
Since Canada don´t give me PR right away, and will send it to Canadian address only, and if I come back to US before i get PR how am I gonna get inside Canada again? Immigrant Visa is single entry, so, is there any temporary PR card for those who leaves Canada right away and come back later?
please help me out.
