I guess the tories are doing better than the Liberals at this stage..

1))Nowhere it has been said the points would increase, rather the whole point system would change..

Conservatives would revamp Canada´s immigration points system to ensure labour market needs are better served

The point system needs to be broadened so people with these((tradespersons and other skills not recognized in the Liberal point system.)) types of skills can be accepted as immigrants

"fundamental change" needed to be made to the applications process to minimize stress and uncertainty for applicants and their families.

2))There was no talk of not increasing the annual quota, just that the problems of the system need to be set right first..

party would not increase immigration numbers until the "serious problems in the system" have been fixed, it is irresponsible to talk about immigration levels until the credentials issue is resolved, settlement programs are strengthened, and the backlog is addressed,"

3))The good things she said were...

i)hiring additional processing officers, making sure applicants can actually get information about the status of their files via the 1-800 number or government website, and ensuring that posted processing times are accurate.

ii) We will also ensure that international credentials can be quickly evaluated and validated, and that any requirement to achieve Canadian equivalency is clearly communicated early in the applications process.

Yes, this tottaly correct coz it goes hand in hand with logic not coz this is what we want. We r not kids here and we do respect contracts and agreements waht is over. The point is that will these promises ever see the light or just promises and that is it if Tories won the elections.

Julia, To whom u will give your vote??

having trouble understanding your post RW. all the points made in 76-152´s post are good ones.

I think the logic behind most of them are based on reality and the desire to make immigration more successful for people and to serve the interests of Canada. In my mind there is no down side.

I think it is a huge leap to assume any changes would harm your current applications or make them unsuccessful. If anything - proposals would help you once you land.

I am a fiscal conservative and social liberal. I have voted Liberal in every election since I was eligible to vote. However, I am tired of a government who wastes my money, lies and is corrupt. I would like give someone else a chance to run the country. A minority government of any kind is very restricted in what they can do... therefore I believe I could vote Conservative and be satisfied with the results.

In Canada, past history is a good indicator of how things might be handled in future.

Let´s assume the points system is changed. Going by past history:

1. If the new points system favours you, good for yoy.

2. If the new points system does not favour you, you can opt to be processed under the old system. Good for you.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

The people the new points will affect (assuming the system is changed) are those who have NOT YET applied.

So why work up a sweat?

RW... please take this in the spirit it is offered. Having an Arab man in my life has taught me many things about your culture and genetic temperament. While everyone is different... some things prove to be amusingly similar.

When my guy starts to fret and extrapolate and fuss... I tell him to stop being such an Arab! We usually laugh because he understands by my comment that he is making far too much of something that the rest of the world could care less about.

So, with a big smile on my face... stop being such an Arab! :) :) :)

This Liberal candidate was getting shit from college students.

"Shut the fxxx up, go fuxx yourself!"
"Go home and smoke crack!"

Thank u all guys. belive me I don´t care if I´ll go to Canada or not. It is simply that it will take them 5 years ad most of peopl apply when they r 30´s then they will go to Canada when they r 40´s then they will spend at least 3-4 years to establish themselves as a citizen then they should be ready to retire.
Another point Julia, we Arabs, don´t like to be treated as a second hand. It will be in my favour if from first day I submitted my application a visa officer receives my documnets and review them and then tell me sorry we dont need u. I swear this would be better for me than waiting till be in 40´s and go there as an old man ready to die.

I don´t know if I told u once when I was in Orly air port and the custom officer was screaming at me for no reason. I explained for her that I´m here with an invitation of Paris Mayor, they kept calling him and after more than 2 hours she said okk he confirmed that yet she asked anohter police officer to check if my passport and visa are not forged!!!!! I screamed in her and told her listen give me my passport and I don´t want to get in such a supid country but u give me your name coz U will be responsible if the mayor asked me why u did´c come??? she refused to tell her name and insisted to send my passport to be checked again and they after 20 minutes I told her it if forged the name and the picture in this passport are not for this one who is infront of u now. She never answered then the police officer came and said we r sorry welcome to Paris. I said this is my 5th time in Paris and the last one for sure.

With a smile in my face ,God bless u Sharon and belive me I´m no longer ensuthestic to go to Canada. but very ensuthestic to keep freinds.

RW... you are doing it again :) I just checked the most recent processing times for Cairo. 24-46 month - not 60 months as you imply. in my world... there is 10 years between 30 and 40. we retire around here at 65 and then enjoy another 15-20 years of good life. You dramatic illustration has some fundamental flaws.

You are not a second hand person. Immediate refusal or acceptance would be really nice but that means significantly changing the entire CIC system and you do not seem to like the idea - in fact you are the most distressed about even minor improvements! Immediate approvals would still require verification time so how long that might take is still anyone´s guess. You should pretty much know before you send your application what your chances are. You have the points or you don´t! You know your police and health history - CIC approval is not really a mystery - it is about time.

As for your unfortunate experience in the Paris airport. Not sure what your point is. My guy was travelling with a delegating from North Africa to the US at the invitation to the US government... and upon arrival, Homeland Security pulled him aside and questioned him for 2 hours in a little room before they even let him out of the airport. Why? Because they were not sure he would leave the country at the appropriate time. He shook it off and carried on. Actually he muttered something about previous arrivals and countrymen messing up his world when he personally has no interest in hating anyone or disobeying the law.

People and governments all over the world would not do such things if they did not have previous situations that would cause them concern. In this world we must sleep in the bed that others have made - fair or not. If you were German in the 40´s you would understand my comments very well.

so, if you are not enthusiastic about Canada any more, that is your choice my friend. I would take your settlement money and the energy you would have taken to establish yourself in Canada and use it to improve your situation exactly where you are. You might be surprised at the results. Whatever you do - make the best of your life.

But don´t blame Canada for this decision - it is entirely yours.

BTW... is that your CV posted on Adventures of Tunisia website? The name and spelling looks familiar. If it is - you should ask the webmaster to remove it as soon as you can. You are opening yourself up to identity theft and all sorts of other problems. Never put personal information like that on a public website.
