Subject: Acknowledgement of Receipt from Buffalo?
In July 2004 I submitted my application for permanent residence as well as my husband´s sponsorship application to the Case Processing Centre in Missassagua. On August 6th, my husband was approved as my sponsor and the application was forwarded to the Buffalo RPC for processing.

It´s been two months and I still haven´t received my acknowledgement of receipt from Buffalo. I was wondering if anyone knew how long it normally takes to receive an AOR for a Family Class Sponsorship from Buffalo. Or if anyone knows when and how to contact them to enquire about my application.

Thanks.

Melissa

Hello Melissa,

I too have an application for PR (family class) through Buffalo and my case has been in process there since mid April 2004. I got my AOR letter from Buffalo about 3 weeks after my sponsor was approved through the Mississauga office. He was approved late March.

You could try and call the CIC call centre here in Canada if you are living in Canada, but they will probably only tell you that your file is in a queue awaiting creation. You should hear from them very soon.

Good luck, and I know from experience that patience is the important part of surviving this process with your sanity intact.

My timeline:

mid March... My wife submitted application package.

late April... My wife is approved as sponsor

May 1... my case arrived in RPC in Buffalo for processing.

May 26... RPC Buffalo finally created a file and sent AOR.

Since then, I´ve been waiting for my passport request/interview....

I know some people who have a slighltly different timeline than mine have already gotten their immigrant visa.

It is my belief and observed facts, although CIC will always deny it, that when the principal applicant is female or gay, they process the case quicker. Most females I know have gotten their cases completed within 5 months.

Good luck!

ozz - How did you know when your application arrived in Buffalo?

On the letter the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga sent my husband it simply said that the application was being forward to Visa Office in Buffalo for processing.

If I knew that my application arrived, my mind would be put slightly at ease.

Hello Melissa,

I was the person who sent you the first message and my timeline is below:

March 08, 2004 - Mississauga receive application
March 30, 2004 - Mississauga approve my sponsor and send him the letter saying my file has been forwarded to Buffalo for processising
April 22, 2004 - Buffalo post AOR letter to me saying they have created my file.

Since then I have heard nothing from them. I know people with similar timelines who have received their visas so I am anxiously looking for mail each day. I have lived and worked in four countries so my background checks may be a cause for delay.

Two things:

1. Your application could still be in a pile in Buffalo awaiting creation. I know this makes you feel anxious, I am anxious too as I worry about the mail and hope I have not missed a letter from them regarding my application.

2. Do you have a client ID number or a file number yet? If you do, you could go straight to e-client on the CIC web site and log in your details. E-client will tell you when Buffalo started processing your file.

Rest assured that your application is now in the safe hands of the right people, CIC send files to Buffalo all the time and your file would not be lost.

Regards,
Ozinca

Melissa:

I read the letter Missisaugua (whatever that @$#%$^ city name is) sent to my wife. It said that my application package was going to be in Buffalo by May 1.

The idiots from CIC seem to tell people different things... BUT THEY CHARGE THE SAME MONEY!!!!

However, as another member told you, you should rest assured that your file is being handled in Buffalo. It´s just that they are the best example of inefficiency, but they should have your package.

Good luck!
