Subject: Study French in Quebec while living in US? |

I am currently in US. I am thinking going to a school close to Quebec. I will hold a F1 visa by then.
I am wondering during school, can I visit Quebec and study French there? But I will live in US side. Is it legal? I heard you don´t need to have a visa to Canada if you come back to US within 30 days?
Thanks

(in reply to: Study French in Quebec while living in US?) You will need visa to enter Canada. The rule you are talking about refers to the I94 card. You do not have to surrender your I94 card if you are planning to come back to US within 30 days.
To study in Canada you will need a Study permit (similar to F1 visa of US). There is an exception - you do not need a Study Permit if you are planning to take a course or program in Canada with a duration of six months or less. You must complete the course or program within the period authorized for your stay in Canada. In this case you will have to apply for TRV (visitor visa).
But I dont understand why you want to study French in Quebec. I believe there are a lot of good institutes that teach french in US. Moreover I dont know how you will manage a full-time course in US and study French in Canada. If you think it makes sense to you and you will be able to manage it then go for it.

The tuition is too high in US. Besides, I do not need credits for French class, just want to learn French. I am not a good learner so I don´t want to get a D in a US college transcript.
If I live in US, and commute daily to Quebec to learn French, do I still need any type of visa from Canadian side? I hope not...
I will only do it during Summer or Winter break, other times I don´t think I can manage two studies.
