Subject: PP request- how the magic happened....
  hello guys and in-canada applicants,
As you guys all know from my previous post, that i got my PP request.here are the full details about me.
-------
In-canada student with masters degree from india and 1 year 3 months work experience from industry in india.currently a doctoral degree student at toronto.
Applied- july 20,2004
AOR-august 17, 2004 (E-client stated that we sterted processing your application on this date onwards)
Initial assessment- March 22,2005 (date on the letter).the letter reached me on april 8, 2005 in canada. No interview required in initial assessment.Medicals asked, Proof of bank statements asked again.
Medicals done-April 15,2005 (toronto)
Medicals results from ottawa to buffalo reached on-July 2, 2005
(This info was got from the fax i sent to ottawa asking whether my medicals has been sent to buffalo).
E-client updated to medicals have been received-July 4, 2005
Ordered Caips document-Mid september 2005
CAIPS documents received-End of october 2005
Details from CAIPS-Everything OK except background check is going on from april 15, 2005.CAIPS also showed that i got only 12 points for english ,instead of 16, posssibly because i did not write IELTS.Eventually it so ended that i got only 67 points instead of 69 which i calculated myself.
E-mail sent to buffalo on november end,2005 about my Landing fee-Got a response saying landing fee was received and case will be ready for finalization early 2006, without even asking them about it.
E-mailed buffalo on Jan 2, 2006-Asking whether PP request was sent.
Received a response on Jan 6, 2006 saying "Your Passport request will be mailed on jan,10 2006".
PP request received-jan 10,2006.
Date on PP envelope-Jan 3,2006 from USA.
I was so shocked when i got the letter yesterday as i was expecting something only at the end of this month. God opened his eyes to reduce my frustrations, though.
The PP request letter came on big orange letter similar to IA letter , mentioning that my case is finalized and asked me to "submit my passport as soon as possible" through premium national expresspost canada. CIC has also asked for 3 photos and also enclosed a grey envelope for me to send all these documents to buffalo. Iam rightly really busy in collecting all documents for CIC.
As you guys all know, e-client still says "In-Process" with no details about case finalized. So no surprises there.
I would like all of the following members in this forum mainly kool,issabella,hell,mountains,pillai,waiting,max,hau,karajito,longwait,calvin_tasharon,kenny,departure bay, sharon and other people who were very helpful and supported me in these frustrating moments of waiting for 20 months from start to finish.
Hopefully if all goes well, i should get my PP back in feb sometimes and iam planning to land in one week from then.I still have to figure out how to cross the border to land inside canada from US side, without getting a US reject stamp on my passport, as i do not have a US visa, since its expired.
Any suggestions regarding landing from within canada will be appreciated.
I hope buffalo will soon send PP request for all the students this year from this forum before this month and make them happy.I pray that all should end well for you guys..
With this iam signing off as of now for next 1-2 days, but will be back after mailing my Passports to buffalo.
WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST.

hi
you don´t need a US visa to reenter Canada. You´ll just go to the border, cross it and you´ll be in a neutral zone from where you come back into Canada and get the visa stamped. you´ll just have to tell them that you are there for landing and they will show you what loop to take.

also, if you have been working for at least one year with work permit you can land from within canada. for example, here in edmonton you can go to canada place (the place where you go for SIN, etc) and they will stamp it and apply for PR card.
hope this helps

Hi Mircea:
As Stephnie said, it will be of great help if you can provide us a bit more info. regarding stamping with in Canada. I´ve never heard of this procedure before.

I´ve been working in Canada for the last 2 years, and if what you said is right, I can possibly avoid exiting and reentering Canada.

Boss, Congrats man, I am really very very happy for you.

Atlast, we have a guy here who won´t say "I don´t read much into that......" anymore. (just kidding)

You did it man. Wish you good luck with your life. But, if not often, from time to time I request you to help the people here who need seniors´s help and you know how much useful it is/was for us when we didn´t get anything (well, I haven´t got it yet though)

As I said, I got an email from Buffalo again on Monday telling the same "Early 2006" again.

Peace.

I know of my friends who just went to airport in Montreal and Immigration authorities allowed them to complete the formalities. No need to go out any where. Please call up CIC call center and ask them.

Hi Anonymous/Mircea:

Did you friends go through In-Canada processing or did they apply through a Canadian post abroad?

I know that if you had gone through In-Canada processing, there is no need to exit and reenter the Canada for landing, but you can do it here in Canada.

But, I also thought, if you process your app. via a Canadian post abroad, you will have to exit and reenter.

Could you please confirm what type of processing did you friends go through (in-canada or abroad)?

Thanks in advance,

When I had to "cross the border" for my work permit, I went to the Niagara Falls and stepped outside of Canada on the Rainbow Bridge (I think this is what it is called) and turned back to the Canadian immigration without going through the US immmigraion.

They applied through Buffalo under SW (In-Canada students). It might be worthwhile to check with CIC Call Centre.

Hi All:

I just confirmed with CIC Call Center. The did say that, if one has processed PR application at a post outside of Canada, then in order for that applicant to validate their PR, has to exit and reenter Canada and do the landing.

I guess, I will have to go through this rigmarole of landing ritual after all.
