Wrote to CIC Buffalo 2 days ago, they seem to be very quick to answer email currently. I also asked if they received my medical & landing fee, they only replied with the status.
Got a standard reply, not surprised.
"We have requested background information from other government
offices(s). Unfortunately, we cannot respond to requests for the status of your application before this information is received."
Timeline:
AOR: May 2004
Interview waiver + medical done + add doc: Nov 2005
Nothing new till now

same answer as you got, we applied in Oct. 2003, AOR nov. 2003, medicals+ ROLF Sept 2004.
the same answer we were given 3 months ago.
