i was reading your post about the email reply that you got from buffalo.
i got the same answer last week, what is interesting is that we have the same timelines.
also i noticed about 10 other cases like ours, where people have their AOR FROM JUNE TO AUGUST 2004, their IA/MEDICALS from february to april 2005 are still waiting for their PPR. while other guys who did their medicals after this period of time are getting their PPRs.
i dunno if the guys in BUFFALO, forgot about us ? they put our files on hold (knowing that our medicals will expire sooon ) ? or they are doing detailed security checks on evryone who applied in that time ?
it s kinda confusing and annoying at the same time ... it s just not fair at all.

(in reply to: to issabella (buffalo reply)) we applied in Oct. 2003 and not even lucky as you are, the answer from CIC: "We have requested background....unfortunately, we cannot respond to requests for the
status of your application before this information is received". The answer was 3 mothes ago.
It just shows, at least from my point of view, that there is no system in it, happens just randomly.

Do you mind telling which country are you from? Your background check has taken unusually long time.

(in reply to: to issabella (buffalo reply)) We are from Russia, but I don´t think it really matters, I believe that background checking is random anyway. it´s almost a year for as, but for our friends from Russia too, it took only 6 days (based on CAIPS).
:) Unpredictable absolutly. And the people from International student office agree with it, because they have a lot of examples than the people with exactly the same background from the same country, who applied almost simultaneously (students in Canada), had completely different processing times, the example I was given 18 months and 40 months, respectively.
:) lottery, practicaly
Waiting............

(in reply to: to issabella (buffalo reply)) Hell, who said Background check is "random", I definitely don´t think so, because if they do like that, it is discrimination. Contact your local MP if you are an In-Canada applicant and ask them to find what is happening with your application. "Background check is random" even if an experienced says this, I wouldn´t believe.
Contact the MP immediately and ask what´s happening.

(in reply to: to issabella (buffalo reply)) Mountains,
thank you for your suggestion, actually we are thinking what should we do next, at least to know, what´s going on, it does not look normal.

(in reply to: to issabella (buffalo reply)) Though we can´t say for sure if backgournd check is carried out randomly, we can reasonably conclude from observation that it is not done on every single applicant. I am in no objection to the necessity of such step for the sake of Canada´s national interest, I do, however, feel the canadian government could have done better. It´s close to be inhumane in my eyes to leave applicants hang in the air, not knowing what happen, where their cases are heading and when they can expect an end.
