Subject: Passports returned - 10 days to Canadaian address
  Hi All:

I can say, finally we have reached the finish line. It was one hell of a ride through the "great unknown" called "canadian immigration process".

We received our passports back from Buffalo with the immigrant visa issued.

FYI...for the people, who have gotten their PPR and those who are about to receive one, it is taking exactly 10 days from the day you mail the passports and until you receive it back from Buffalo (mailed to an address in Canada).

It will be a remiss on my part if I do not mention something about this forum. This is one heck of a forum for prospective Canadian immigrants. I gained a lot from this forum, and this forum is the only means of retaining sanity during the uncertain times of your PR processing.

Good luck y´all, and hope to bump into some of you here.
Ciao,

Boss:
The PPR letter clearly states this. As per the directions, I sent a pre-paid National Xpresspost return envelope.

I wish they could accept Puralator, but unfortunately they don´t. The tracking number of National Xpresspost is next to worthless, since they only update on the web twice. Once when they pick up the package, and the other when they deliver. Also, the delivery time for Xpresspost is 2 business days (Canada post guarantees this, else they say they will reimburse the money).

Hi Almost-There,

Can I ask how do you plan to land if you are already in Canada? Wondering if you can just get to the nearest international airport and speak to an immigration officer there? Ever heard of somebody doing that?

Thanks and congratulations,

- Max

Max:

The first I heard about going to airport to do the landing was in this forum about a week back.

Although I had my own qualms, I checked with CIC if we could do the landing at the nearest internation airport, but the answer from them was a negative.

CIC said that, we have to physically exit and reenter the country.

I´ve an US visa, and am planning to drive out to the nearest border post and turn around.

hi Almost there,
thanks. I did send my passport through expresspost on jan 12, 2006 and with return envelope from Canada (national) expresspost.Unfortunately the canadapost site just says the letter left canada with no updates whether the letter was received by buffalo.Did u also had a same problem in your tracking of expresspost.
Secondly, did ur photos sent was stamped with the name of the shop at the back along with the date.
Thanks for the help.

Hi Boss:
As I said, Xpresspost is absolutely worthless.

Hence, after a week of mailing our passports, I sent an email to Buffalo asking them about the status of issuing a visa. To my astonishment, I received a reply back from them in a couple of hours, saying that they have received my passports, issued the visa and mailed it out to me. They also gave the day they mailed them back to me, and also the tracking number of my pre-paid Xpresspost return envelope.

I would suggest, you should also drop them a mail, either today or tomorrow. Hopefully they will answer in affirmative.

Regarding the photographs: The photographer only stamped the date but not his name/address. I´m pretty sure that would Ok, even if they print the shops name/address. I would suggest not to worry about that.

Good luck...you are just a couple of days away from receiving your passport.

Hi Almost-There,

Thanks for the info. I have done the re-entering the country in Niagara Falls but don´t feel like going there again just for that. You actually don´t need a US visa and can just turn back on the bridge to get to the Canadian customs.
