Subject: US vistor overdue engaged to CA |

Here is the senario,
US citizen in Canada as a visitor on US driver´s license staying with fiancee for over 6 months, car was stolen. US citizen has been waiting for divorce to go through in the States. This is scheduled to be completed by default end of Feburary. CA citizen (sponsor) is prengant, they´ve been living together in CA for over a year conjugally. She is due to deliver in April. They are planning to marry in March or when the divorce cert is available. US citizen has driver´s license and birth certificate but doesn´t have US passport. He is planning to get US passport since rule change at border.
What should the US citizen do? File for a vistor for a year to get married? If reported, would they deport a US visitor and leave a newborn fatherless? No criminal problems in this case. So they file for a family status conjugal since they´ve cohabitated in CA for over a year? Or should they just wait until they get married in March/April and file for his PR?
Please advise.

DO THIS (in reply to: US vistor overdue engaged to CA) AS SOON AS YOU CAN GO DOWN TO THE STATES, GET MARRIED, GET YOUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES THEN, COME TO THE BORDER, GET 1YR VISITOR RECORD, APPLY FOR SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP PR.
I ALSO AM AMERICAN. THIS IS WHAT I DID. I APPLIED DEC. 2004 AND I SHOULD HAVE MY FINAL INTERVIEW GRANTING PR IN 5-8WEEKS. TAKES A LONG TIME.
MY RECOMENDATION, IF YOU HAVE A DEGREE OR ANY ADVANCED TRAINING, FIND A JOB THAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR A NAFTA WORK VISA AND YOUR SET (YOU GET YOUR WORK VISA SAME DAY AT THE BORDER). EMAIL ME IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL HELP.
FORREST
