Hi Boss,

I have a question. I should be putting the passport, photographs and the original letter with height and eye color fields filled in the grey envelope. Am i supposed to send the grey envelope by itself or put that grey envelope and the return express post envelope in a bigger express post envelope and mail it to buffalo? Thanks very much.

I folded the return envelope post and had put it in grey envelope and had sent it through canadapost.

I bought an expresspost envelope to usa and one national express post envelope. I am thinking of folding the national expresspost one and the grey envelope put them into the usa expresspost one and send it. Sending the grey envelope by itself with a stamp to buffalo makes me nervous as there is no tracking information. Is that good?

Hi Boss,

On second thoughts reading the letter again, it specifically says to send the original passports with this letter in the grey envelope provided. But above that line, it is also mentioned that it is strongly encouraged to use the canadapost premium mail service and it would allow tracking of delivery and return of documents. Was your grey envelope sent by registered mail to buffalo by canadapost or by normal post option? Thanks.

Regards
pillai

hi pillai.,
what u said is true. This is what you should do. put your passports and other documents inside grey envelope. Now also put the canada premium express post return envelope (with your address of course)inside this grey envelope.Seal this grey envelope and put this in expresspost letter and send it ( you will get a tracking number for this). I hope you are also mentioning the same.Incase if you are having anydoubts, show that postal information with canadapost guys and they will help you out.they deal so many cases like this.
By the way, by the aforementioned procedure, i found that my passports reached buffalo on 20th january, through my tracking number.exactly 8 days after i posted it in canada.
I hope this helps.

Hi Boss,

Thanks for the help. One question - The sealed grey envelope, it should be going into the bigger express post usa envelope to buffalo, isn´t it? Is that what you meant by "put this in expresspost letter"? The only catch with this process is that buffalo gets boat loads of express post envelopes everyday including new applications and extra documents from applicants. It could be possible that the reason why they send the grey envelope is to expedite the process of visa issuance. If the sealed grey envelope goes into a usa expresspost envelope, isn´t it a possibility that it would end up in the same pile as unopened new applications? Thanks very much for your response. Sending passport by mail is never going to be a pleasent experience!

hi pillai.,
But you have to send it like that only.No choice. You have to put the grey envelope into US expresspost and send it.
i think buffalo gets around 200 passports everyday.Thats why they say it will take 10-15 days to issue PR visa form the day they receive your passport.
I send my letter on jan 12, 2006 by US express post. the letter reached them on jan 20, 2006.I emailed buffalo an d they confirmed that my passport reached them and i have to wait 5-10 more business days for them to issue Pr visa.Add another 7-10 more days for return. So i can reasonably expect something on feb 10.No choice.
I checked my return expresspost tracking number from US.Looks like they have not posted my passports back till now. Its already 4 days since my passports have reached them.(It says the number did not exist).Hope this helps.
