Subject: instead of IA, I got a transfer notice...
Hi, I finally received a letter from Buffalo after 11 month silence since AOR March, 2005. Unexpectedly, It was not IA. It says that

?gIn order to expedite the processing of your application, your file has been sent to: Canadian Consulate General, Seattle...?h

I heard file transfer is a bad sign, and it takes more time than regular cases. Is it true? I feel like crying... Please give me some info, advise, somebody, please...

hey dont worry. it could be a good sign. with the same time line as mine , those of whom got interviewed at detroit and other places already got their passport requests. i am still in the waiting process. so dont worry. as long as urs has no problem, every thing will be fine.

Yes, don´t worry, it´s not like they already told you that you need an interview. Skilledworker1 is right, they are distributing the cases they have in Buffalo to all the CIC offices in the US in order to expedite them.

At least you got a letter, I applied 14 months ago and I haven´t heard anything yet.

I saw someone was saying the Seattle office will send me a letter like AOR. And it may take upto 9months?!! Does anybody know about it???

As per the experiences, I have been reading on this website, whenever there is a file transfer from one office to another office it delays the process. In your case, how can it make the process faster for you? you got this freaking letter 11 months after you applied, this is the time within which most of the people get their IA. Now, you should realistically add 6-9 more months, before you can get your IA. I, also have an AOR of March 05 and I am also fearing to receive this deadly letter...GOD please spare me send me IA instead of this letter...I patiance is giving up..

Well, I read somewhere, I don´t know if it is true or not, that Buffalo is going to distribute the cases received after december 2004 and they´ll keep the cases they had before november 2004. Again, I don´t know if that´s true, but it may be a clue. And about the transfer to Seattle, this isn´t a regular transfer like they did before for people needing an interview, this is what I did read when they posted about this change in the CIC US:

"For cases in all categories, all applications will be continue to be filed initially in Buffalo. Buffalo will create electronic and paper files, and initiate background checks concerning security and criminality screening. Cases will be transferred to the processing office within a few weeks of receipt, by priority courier. As in the past, Buffalo will advise the applicant or their representative of the transfer."

Thanks everyone. Especially to "Me", I really appreciate your attention and info. I hope you will get their response very soon. Me, can I ask for the url of your quoted statement?

Hehe, when is your mail dated? Mine is January 13, 2006, and I received it on January 25. Did you pick Seattle for your preffered interview location like I did?

I finally decided to go see a professional consultant next week. It will be my first visit. Many of my friends are using/used her services and everyone says she is really good. She used to be a CIC officer at the Seattle office for 5 years. I hope I can get some good info from her...

Keep in touch here, everyone. New people/info is always welcome, too!

Hey there Ritea. This is where I found the info. I didn´t believe it at first but, it´s been happening. The person who posted this always told me "You´ll see!" And I certainly have!

Good lock!

Hi! I got the same letter! The letter came today (Jan 30), although it is dated Jan 13.
Our AOR date is March 15, 2005 (although we sent the documents in december of 04) and we picked Seattle as the interview location.
I see that we are not the only ones who got this letter - we kind of panicked when we saw it...
I woul apreciate any other information you guys can give us....
