Subject: tell truth or lie?
  Hi Everybody,

Here is the situation. I currently work in the U.S. (not a U.S. citizen) on a contract which expires in July. Just got my PR visas form Buffalo valid until April. I do want to finish the contract here.

1. When I am landing in Canada (before the visa expires, of course), can I just tell them what the situation really is, that I am coming back into U.S., and giving a friend´s address to send the PR card? Or they expect me to come once for good and I have to pretend I am.

2. Also, about proof of funds: Will it suffice to show an employment letter from a US university with decent salary, or it has to be a bank statement with $15K (for my family of 3).

Thanks and have a wonderful one.

Hey Fizik Kardes,

1. Yes you can do such a thing, and you can even leave Canada the following day but please check this site for urgent situations :http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/travel.html
2. Nope, they are not interested in your money in anywhere else except for your money which you bring in the form of travellers cheques or bank drafts (which show that you have transferred that amount in canada) or the cash that you have with you when you enter Canada,

Good luck

Well, but if I leave the next day, I do not need $15K in my pocket. I mean, common sense. Or do I still have to show the cash?

When you comming in, you are there to stay. If you are leaving the next day, you are leaving as a Canadian resident going to visit the world. That´s how they are looking at it.

You MUST have the money when you enter. It is formality. And if i was you, I would NOT tell them that you are leaving the next day. You are not in until you are in. Don´t ruin your situation by doing something so stupid on the VERY last moment ritgh before the border agent is going to or decide not to finalize your PR. Don´t have money? Borrow it! Dig it out from somewhere, but HAVE IT! And don´t say antything about anything waiting for you outside of Canada!!! Not right before the border agent stamps your passport or what ever they do...

Hey Fizik

As guys told you above:

1. You must show them proof that you have taken that amount of money in Canada (via bank transfer or cash etc.)
2. Do not tell the officals you are leaving the country the following day...
3. After entering Canada you can send back the money..

In short No money no landing ...

A lie would have no sense unless the truth were felt dangerous.

you have no need to tell anybody that you are coming back next day because they have no concern with it once you land succesfully. So just dont mention any thing that does not concern them before the landing, you may get into trouble. Secondly, show money is a formality and in most of the cases they dont even bother to ask you that you have money with you or not. But to be on the safe side, you should keep enough evidece to prove your financial stability. Good luck

Do Following which I did at the time of landing

1.Make cashier check
2.Go to Canada
3.At the time of landing you must show your fund so you can show Cashier check and give your Canada address for PR card .
4. Go SIN office apply for SIN card .
5. It´s better Do not tell anybody you are leaving soon.
6.Come back to US and deposite same cashier check into your account.
Make sure you have Canada Address.

Enjoy
