Subject: Got IA!
Hey there, We are November 2004 applicants, and we got IA Today, according to the lawyer.

I´m not the principal applicant, my partner is. He´s in the US I´m in Colombia. They requested an interview, but I won´t be able to go because I don´t have a US visa, that´s why we are trying to move to Canada.

did they requested the interview for both of you or only for your partner? did you applied while being in the US with your partner?

Hey there. Well, what I understand is that when they ask for an interview, all the dependants have to show up. We´ve been a couple for 5 years but I´ve been turned down for the US tourist visa 4 times so far. We have the interview at Buffalo because they didn´t transfer the file. But since I don´t have a visa I won´t be able to go.

He applied in the US because the lawyer back then told us that it would be faster there than here in Bogot?, and besides he´s an american citizen.

Well, Since your spouse is US Citizen. when you apply US VISA, did you show all the papers all the relationship prove including merried ceritificated?

back to the topic, if you can´t get US visa for interview, you can write a letter to your husband, saying that you are unable to come to US for interview due to reject the US visa. PLUS copy of your evidents.

I know sometimes is hard for them to understand but in some cases they still have a mercy.

Pokmi: Yes, that´s why I´ve been turn down 3 times for tourist visa and once for student visa. And our "marriage" is the kind of marriage that republicans and conservatives don´t like, that´s why I´ve never been able to get to the US and we´re hoping we could move to Canada, but now with this Harper guy . . .

I haven´t thought about the letter, that´s a good idea! Thanks a lot for the advice Pokmi, we really appreciate it!

I think the idea of Pokmi about the letter might help, I hope it does. What kind of advice does your lawyer has given you? I mean he could ask for an interview waver as well, there is a chance to ask for that, but I am not completely sure. Have you guys been able to live together for at least a year? Because you might want to prepare more documentation to probe your relationship if that is the case...

WCR thanks for the reply! We lived together 2 years down here in Bogot?, he left because his student visa was about to expire and he couldn´t have a job here with that kind of visa. So he returned to the US in 2004, later we applied for Canada and we´ve been on hold since then.

The lawyer told us to order the CAIPS notes to see what the interview was for, we did that today. And they told us about the possibility of getting us a waiver depending on what the CAIPS say.

When we applied we sent lots of documentation about the relationship, even down here you can sign for special partnerships with the government. We did that in 2003 and we sent that as a proof.
