Subject: Experts Please Help!
Dear freinds, i have been in the united states for almost 4 years now on H1b. I will be laid off from my job on feb 17th 2006. Then i will loose my H1b status. I am planning to move back to india. My application for permanent residence is pending at the detroit office and just recieved a letter that my interview is waived and submit medicals. Do i have to do the medical in the US or can i go back to india and continue the rest of my canadaian PR process ? Do i have to stay in the US till i get my PR ? anyone in the same situation ? any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Nk,

Get the medical done as soon as possible. It does not matter where you get the medical done.

You do not have to stay in US till your application is approved BUT you will have to maintain an address in US. If you have a friend/relative you can give his/her address as your correspondence address.

Another thing you will have to figure out is how to send your passport from India to US when you get the passport request.
